Mrdoitall, I have Sarpo Mira and Sarpo Axona courtesy of Nathan growing in my garden. They are nearly mature. I am in Northwest Alabama. I can provide you with enough of each to grow next year.

Very interesting thread, I started reading up on these resistant potatoes and I think I have found my reading material for the next week or so. Btw Sarpo Mira/Vitelotte Grande is gorgeous. Fusion how did yours perform last year?

Ambiorix

You were kind enough to share a few of your TPS with me in 2014. I have intended to provide my feedback for some time but I wanted to grow them for 2 years (1 year as TPS and then 1 year as a regular planted tuber) before sharing my experience.

Sarpo Mira Vitelotte Grande - Pink T12AB104/135. Red skin / white flesh
Strengths: 1. Yield - large number of tubers although small. 2. Very long storage - very little sprouting even after 5-6 months.
Weaknesses: None really unless you prefer larger potatoes.

Sarpo Mira - T13AB174 Theda 2105. Blue skin / light blue flesh
Strengths: 1. Better than average flavour & my favourite of the three varieties to eat. 2. Nice creamy texture when boiled
Weaknesses: 1. Low yield 2. Early senescence

Sarpo Axona - T13AB165 / Theda 1407. Black skin / blue & white flesh
Strengths: 1. Good potato flavour. 2. Good storage when grown from TPS.
Weakness: 1. Early senescence. 2. Numerous tubers but small.

I believe that, if grown in a different climate, someone else's results would be quite different from mine. My soil has a large amount of clay. In a wet year, it grows well. In a hot and dry year, it has a significant effect.

Sarpo Mira is a good producing potato in my climate. It is not as good for frying as others commonly grown here, but it is good enough. It is somewhat susceptible to soil rot, probably a fungal disease. I got quite a bit in the fridge to plant this year.

Sarpo Axona is a longer season variety that made a decent crop of small tubers. I'm not yet sure if I want to grow it again.
