I remember. I was holding the camera.

Pity he has not been involved in the tomato community for the last couple of years. I really hoped we'd see him at SETTFest 2010.

I was simply posting it for anyone reading this thread
who had not seen the pictures before and wondered
about the all-leaf-mold beds. Actually they are all-compost
or all-humus raised beds. Decaying leaves are simply
the feedstock for that compost (lots of earthworm castings
there, too, after a few years of growing them that way
with annual additions of more leaves).

He would go door-to-door getting bagged leaves from people. I don't know if he still does. His tomatoes tasted better than what I grew.

Ooh ya! Makes me even more excited about the prospect of all the leaves Ima get from the county site. Found where the public works department takes all the leaves they collect; talked to the man that runs the site, and asked him what quantity of leaves are usually available in the autumn. He said they only bring the bagged leaves to the site & that they actually take the loose leaves to the landfill. =( However, he indicated that the bagged leaves pile is @ least 20 feet in diameter & nearly as high. So, I will be showing up with a U-Haul to get my share. =D
