First Heirloom to blush is:

Stupice was my first to blush. I'm not sure if the others are thinking of blushing yet - I'd expect Japanese Black Treifel to be next, just based on size and date of fruit set - but its firmly green. But, Amish Paste might beat it.

I have a ripe Stupice and a ripe Moravsky Div sitting on my kitchen counter waiting for pictures and a taste comparison. Two little pale Sungolds are there too, but will need a day or two more to be fully ripe. I see another Moravsky Div starting to blush in the garden. Feels great to see another tomato season begin to produce some eaters! I'll be gone all of next week, so with this heat, there should be a few other varieties starting to blush by the time I get back.

I just picked my first tomato of the year, a 17 oz. SRH/Rostova. It was planted on 5/13. Next year I may be planting more of these. I also picked 4 black cherries and 8 Sprite.

Just got done consuming my two small red tomatoes a la peasant style, on a dark rye bread with a layer of sour cream, thinly sliced cucumbers (from my potted cukes) and sprinkled with green onions. Went down real fast, sure wish these earlies were a bit bigger, but I'll take what I can get until the beefsteaks start coming in.

Have grown Stupice as my early for many years, I also tried Moravsky Div as a comparison this year. I could not see much difference between them, both are PL's and are a similar short height so far. I only have two plants of each, but so far, the MD has a few more blushing tomatoes than the Stupice and both MD plant have produced, while both Stupice tomatoes came from the same plant.

While a taste test on only two first tomatoes is not definitive, I did think the taste was very similar, about a 6-7 rating (out of 10) with the Stupice having a bit more tang to it. I'm just pleased to be finally having some non-store bought tomatoes!

The 2nd Brandywine eaten from my generous plants. Tastes better than the 1st, probably because it was able to ripen farther. =)

My first blushers appeared on July 12th as birthday presents - Kosovo and Wes. Picked my first ripe ones yesterday - five Kosovos and two Wes, and today found a ripe Brandywine Cowlick.

Stocked up on fresh mozzarella and the bacon is thawing. The next few days are going to be orgasmic!

Darn, you all are going to get me to go looking for roadside stands or something tomorrow. All of mine are still green. The biggest brandys are only 3 inches, and even my cherries are still not turning red, although they are about the right size.

Picked 2 ripe Matina's yesterday. Was pleasantly surprised at the taste. My plant is loaded.

BTW, does anyone know if Kosovo and Wes are supposed to be this early? Only 62 days to maturity seems awfully fast, not that I am complaining.

Last year I grew Kosovo and I thought it was an early as well as a heavy producer for a larger variety Tomato.
