BigdaddyJ- good to hear things are going so well. Thats quite a list you got there. What was your seed source for Goose Creek and was it you I read over on GW that has grown Goose Creek in the past and wasn't too impressed? I got my seeds from Raybo, and I would say GC and Berkeley Tie-Dye Heart are tied for best tasting of 2010 so far.

Damon, not me on GW, this is my first time growing GC and seeds from Terry Tomato addict. I am surprised that a small size tomato is one of my longest DTM. In a couple days I will taste my first...;-)

Carolyn.....this is perhaps too late and perhaps you no longer have a bear problem, but
here is a good deterrent for black bears and doesn't really harm them. Buy a couple of
aerosol cans of something like "Raid". Smear bacon grease all over the can and leave
in the area frequented by the bears. When they bite through the can, they get a major
scare, a nasty taste in their mouths and a determination to find a much better restaurant
than your place. The black bears that we have in Canada are major cowards. I chase
them off with a stick and even our cat treed one of them. But, if they found food, they will
return, so it is important to convince them that the food ain't five star by any means.

I have bear problems too but usually, they don't climb my fence so mostly restricted to the driveway unless they swim up from another property by the lake...

Will the raid hurt them? Now I don't get them much anymore since using screwtop trash cans, but still see them. I don't want them getting at my tomatoes next year though!

Nah, it doesn't hurt them It scares the scat out of them and gives them a
strong urge to go brush their teeth and, like I mentioned, a desire to seek
a better class of restaraunts in the future.
