I'm liking this thread. Gonna have to get that multi-slicer for my foodie arsenal.

Don't stop there Timmah. Get a Vege-Matic and a Jack LaLane juicer too.

Now you're trying to send me to infomercial hell!
I like the German gadget because it's versatile, saves time & appears to be quick & easy to clean. German blades are high quality, too. |

And don't forget the vegetable spiraler! I don't have one (and don't have space for it), but had some great "spaghetti" last year at a garden potluck that turned out to be vegetable-spiraled zucchini! The cook said she used it with everything and it was a great way to get her kids to eat more vegetables, because they didn't realize what they were eating.

No, it was just like eating pasta! Granted, I was paying more attention to the conversation than to examining my food, but I didn't realize it was spiraled zucchini until after I'd eaten it and was told what it was! The shape was exactly like spaghetti, in long strands. If you looked closely the texture may have looked a little different, but with a little tomato and basil and garlic, it tasted exactly like spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce.

Ah, thanks to Tomatoville and the Search feature I found the name of my favorite tomato peeler! I had several of these, but gave some away, others must be hiding, etc. so it's time to order more. These things are great! I actually eat more fresh, raw tomatoes straight off the plant because these peelers do such a fast and good job.
Since this thread is about gadgets, has anyone discovered a great garget this year?

Old gadget used in a new way.
A Dramm water breaker attached to the end of a hose with a ball valve to regulate the flow and to provide an on/off switch. I found some Dramm breakers at Big Lots the other day for $3 each!! (You can go to the BL website and see if your local store offers the big garden-supply sale.) This came up on another thread and I'd used them before with a water wand. But I prefer it without the wand -- easier to maneuver in small spaces without getting wet. |
