NarnianGarden .............I am growing Black Krim this year also. I tried it several years ago, and I was not impressed.....but I believe it was a strange tomato year that year, and I wanted to give it another try in a different spot.

My seed is directly from Camochef. I'm growing it this year and will have seed available after harvest time this year. I've grown it about every other year since Mike and I did a trade some years back. He really did find a good one. It truly IS more productive than BW's normally are.

It's been quite a few years since I posted a reply to this thread, as a matter of fact, its been a few years since I posted on this site.
When I received this notice I was surprised by some of my answers. Opinions have changed drastically the past 5 years or so. To answer today: 1. Best tasting tomato - Earl's Faux, German Johnson-Benton strain, Rebel Yell, Not Purple Strawberry, Brandywine-Glicks, Bear Creek, Cherokee Purple, and more. 2. Best cherry tomato -no longer grow cherry or grape tomatoes. 3. Best green when ripe tomato - no longer grown. 4. Best huge tomato-Cherokee Purple\McKinley. 5. Best early tomato-Dana's Dusky Rose. 6. Best black tomato - Barlow's Best Black!\Cherokee Purple 7. Best heart shaped tomato -no longer grown. 8. Best sauce tomato - Cowlick Brandywine\Cherokee Purple mix. 9. Best potato leafed tomato -Brandywine-Glicks 10. Best bi colored tomato-No longer grown. This thread started about Stump of the World, a tomato I no longer grow. It was a good sized, tasty tomato but year after year it had problems being one of the first to get Septoria, and it was a continuing problem, that I couldn't get under control. Therefore it was eliminated. This year will see a major change in my gardening habits. Instead of growing hundreds of tomatoes as I have for so many years...I'm planting a Bakers Dozen of my very favorite tomatoes. They are: Barlow's Best Black Cherokee Purple Not Purple Strawberry Bear Creek Earl's Faux Brandywine-Glick's Cowlick's Brandywine Rebel Yell McKinley German Johnson-Benton Str. Barlow Jap Red Brandywine Dana's Dusky Rose Believe me, it was quite difficult to get down to such a small amount, but it seems to be working out. Besides, this year I'm concentrating on growing beans. I just finished planting over 1000 beans after falling in love with Rattlesnake beans last year and wondering what other beans I might have missed over the years. So I planted over 80 varieties this season to try. Peas are growing well, as are cabbages, beets, spinach and other greens. Hope to get tomatoes out soon, ( they spend days outside when the winds die and the rains let up). If it warms up, cucumbers, squash, zucchini and other warm weather crops are waiting to go. Good Luck and enjoy! Camo |

Ted.........I'll make you a trade.........Cowlick BW seeds for a Tomatoville t-shirt............someone had posted a thread on here several months ago wanting to know why we couldn't have a Tomatoville t-shirt. I posted I could do that, but would need permission from the folke's here at Tomatoville. It seems that they were not interested so I dropped the idea. But I wanted a t-shirt for myself so during the off season I made a couple of shirts for personal use. I have a few left over.
http://i706.photobucket.com/albums/w...psvebhtnni.jpg Camo.........I hope you don't mind me quoting you. I have read your posts, and I know you know know what you are talking about. In fact I chose SOTW to grow this year from your comment I quoted............I want to say thank you!! |

I'd be a fool not to take you up on that deal. I take an XL or a XXL for loose and breezy. The seed I have now is 3 years old. Do you want that or would you wait for fresh seed later this summer? Let me know and we can exchange addresses by PM. I think I'll include some extra surprises you may like. Let me know
