First planting was on May 8; replanted a few lost to wind on May 18; today replanted the five lost to hail on the 21st. Today, May 26, is the latest I have ever put tomatoes in the ground. In order to replant the varieties I lost to the hail I had to drive 30 miles and buy back four plants from a nursery I supply with my OPs. The owner wanted to give them to me, but it was my own dang fault for not protecting my own well enough, so I paid. No hail or wind in the next week or so. I hope they take.

Today I just replanted over 40 tomato plants to replace those damaged by hail. I was planting in mud in some lower spots of the garden. The soil is very wet here. It's a well draining soil, but not with all this recent moisture. Normally I would wait for the soil to dry out more; but there's more rain in the forecast, my plants are getting quite large, and it's already May 27....so I thought this is the time to do it. I don't recommend planting in mud, but I think I can get away with it considering the soil type I have here.
Hopefully the weather heats up and dries up next week sometime. Best of luck to you all!

Got 19 of 41 planted today. No more energy. Had other things come up.....
Feel good about it..... Tomorrow is another day!

Time for a cold one on the deck before the rains come in.

You're almost halfway there...

I'm putting my peppers and herbs in tomorrow, weather permitting. Today was spent putting in flats of impatiens, fun fun. Oh yes, and re-planting the beans that the dratted dog dug up.

A few of mine already have flowers - go Black Cherry - I think he'll be the first.
