Hi, Linda! Isn't this the coldest late spring we've had in years? I always get lots of greenies in May. It rained last night and I've had the heater on a few times today! My maters are in the ground, in a raised bed. We get a breeze every afternoon for a few hours, so that should help, but so far, not one tomato. I'm hoping to get a ton soon so we can at least have maters by late July-August. One year we even had fresh, homegrown maters for the 4th of July! The only thing in my garden that's producing is my zuchinni! Two plants and I have 18, a few ready to harvest!

Feldon, indeed I do have Reemay/row cover/frost blanket, and use it in the garden in great quantities, mainly to ward off the cabbage butterflies, carrot rust fly, onion maggot fly and flea beetles. Have also used it in the past to cover my hardening-off seedlings but I literally have dozens (80ish) flats and it takes more time to fasten down the cover against that wretched wind than it does to just get them into the garage where it is "safe". And I also worry that it only provides a couple degrees of frost protection - the "weather guessers" can be off easily by 5 degrees. Gotta say, those Costco rolling racks that can accomodate 24 flats are wonderful - have 2 of them.
