Είμαι αρκετά ορισμένη ντομάτα της 'ελενα σας θα αυξανόμουν καλά στην Αυστραλία ενώ την παίρνετε προσδιορισμένη. (I'm quite certain your Elena tomato would grow well in Australia while you get it identified) |

Here's why. You need to be sure that you have pure seed so that every seed you sow gives you plants that are identical. Above you said you were not sure if one plant has both fruit shapes or if they are on different plants, which answered a question I asked above. I'd suggest that you save seeds from the ball shaped fruits and some from the ribbed ones you showed in the picture. That way you'll know if what you have are pure seeds after you set out plants from those seeds saved from the two fruit shapes. There are some varieties that do have fruits of different shapes on one plant but they've been that way for many many years and so is considered normal. Please, if I'm not making sense here let me know by posting in this, your own thread. I think it's a great idea to name it but I also think you need to see if what you have is true seeds for the variety before you name it or distribute seeds for it. And then if you want to distribute seeds for it , maybe next year, you can go to the Seed Exchange subforum here, choose the second one, the TRADE Forum and just offer your seeds there. The trade forum has to kinds of offers, one for folks who just want to offer seeds to others and ask only for a self addressed envelope and the other kinds of threads are for folks who are offering varieties and looking for trades. And that's where folks go if they DO have seeds to share with others. I do one large seed offer each year and do it in the TRADE Forum, but want no trades, as is also true of several other folks who want no trades. Hope that helps.

Re: trades
Coming up with Greek postage for SASEs (self-addressed stamped envelopes) may be difficult for tomato growers in other countries. So you are better off to do a straight trade offer. Offer your Elena seeds and whatever else you might have for trade and include a list of anything that you would like to have seeds for. That way each person involved in the trade can buy postage for seeds sent from their own country without difficulty. re: Variety Names If both the ball-shaped ones and the beefsteak shaped ones taste the same, and if they are otherwise two different varieties that breed true (seeds from the ball-shaped ones produce plants with only the ball-shaped fruit and seeds from the larger, more flattened ones produce only plants with the larger fruits), you could call the ball-shaped variety Elena and the more flattened one Elena Dropped From A Large Height (that could be abbreviated to Edfalh).
