I have some seeds for this one as well. Not sure who sent them now, but I will sow a couple and see how they go.

Thanks! Well, as you can see, it's productive (in my garden, anyway). Still plenty more on the plants where those came from.
Frankly, I'm really not into yellows for the most part, but Anna B is pretty good tasting for a yellow - not bland. Flavor is somewhat like Azoychka. |

Lovely looking tomato Craig. I'll look forward to reading some reports about it this summer.

Is the difference in coloration on the sliced fruit and skin between Craig's and Suze's Anna Banana Russian for real or is it the camera?

Suze's pics look accurate - my pics from last year not very good. The skin color is a nice bright medium yellow (color of Lemon Boy or Lillian's Yellow), with the interior a bit more pale in color (kind of like Azoychka). There can be a faint reddish blush on the blossom end, which may bleed a bit into the flesh - this appears to be typical of most yellow varieties.

Thanks for sending the seeds Down Under. I grew ABR las season. Mine were exactly like Suze's. Productive. Flavour is about a 6.5/10, whereas AR is a 7.5/10 in my garden. I would say ABR is one of the milder yellows, really.

Here's a picture of the ones Craig brought to Tomatpalooza[tm] IV last year.

okay...i got what suze got...lemon yellow...with a nice pointy end.
i forgot to weight it...can you believe it?...I FORGOT TO WEIGH IT! *doh* i almost pulled this plant early on because of the mites. it really suffered, and because of its wispy habit it looked particularly frail. but then it took off...and i decided to keep it...and boy am i happy i did! i'm going to grow this one every year from now on. so it became lunch. it had a crazy, hard black bit growing in it which i merely cut out before devouring. i LOVE this tomato. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. for me...it's in a tie situation as the best tasting tomato this year. |
