Picked 103lbs to date and still setting a lot more. The Granaderos are at the 7' high mark and are setting tomatoes over my head. Not sure what I'm going to do as my trellis is just over 7' high and I still have two months left in the growing season.

Are you deciding between topping them or letting them flop over and grow back down? I placed some foam pipe insulation along the top of my cattle panel trellis to see if it would make a more gentle bend in the vines. Too early to tell if it'll help because the fruits up top aren't big enough to weight them down.

Hi Kath,

I'll probably just let them fall over. I trellis them using a single vine string method commonly seen in greenhouses. I might try lowering the plant from above and defoliate along the main stem where they touch the ground. One of my Brandy Boys is being done this way. At least one foot of the bottom stem has been defoliated by hand and runs along the ground (on top of fabric) before bending upwards. As long as the vines aren't too stiff, this method should be okay.
