I'm pretty sure it is Kilo della Garfagnana that I got from a trade from Italy. All the tomatoes were big and very meaty, although this one was the largest. It was buried in the middle of dense foliage and I thought it was 2 tomatoes next to each other until one day I did some thinning out and there it was. Trust me, no one was more shocked than I was. And the caterpillars LOVED that plant and destroyed several good sized tomatoes so I covered this one with reemay to make sure it ripened. It was so pretty and picture perfect.
My mom was quite upset when I gave her one of the others from that vine because she wanted to eat the "big one" lol.... and I would not let her! It was moderately productive, but I could have made a small pot of sauce with that one tomato alone Flavor was pretty good, not sweet, and I did prefer it cooked to fresh eating. On the dry side. Steve, the tomatoes got plenty of seaweed and fish emulsion and compost, not bad, eh?

Secrets now OUT? Neptune's Harvest combo of Fish/Seaweed fertilizer is wonderful for the leaves and in the ground . It stays in the ground for months not like MC. That why all the huge pumpkins growers used it for the 1,000 lbs pumpkins.
