you will love the taste, it is similar to Cherokee purple (at least in my garden) but more productive.

After a year off from growing, this year I plan to try:

Stupice
Goose Creek
Monkey A$$
Sabre
KBX
Sungold F1
Maybe a couple more. It' still too early to start seeds.

And a couple bell and hot peppers and a zucchini.

It's crazy that I'm already planning the garden in January!

Hello, Michael,
you have an interesting varieties of eggplants.
Kamo sounds great, is it bitter or not?
The Takumi on line was listed as hybrid, or is there a de-hybridised variety as well?

Kamo is definitely not bitter-great variety-its our favorite. Its a very well known eggplant used in Japan. The Takumi is a hybrid. Also a great variety.

I am growing tomatoes, cucumbers, and am thinking about trying eggplants next year (not sure yet).

Ella,

Did you plant Red Barn this year? I see it on your list and am wondering how it's producing for you. It's new to me this year and I planted 2. With all of the disease and blossom drop that I am facing this year Red Barn is doing quite well, which is great because I virtually have no fruit on all of my other beefsteak varieties. I hope they taste as good as they are producing.

Just about now, I'm thinking only one Sungold cherry plant would have sufficed. It's amazing how large and prolific a good cherry tomato plant can get. These ones are over 14' in all directions with countless leaders. I used to fight to harvest everyone, but so many are beyond my reach now that they're left for the birds and to dry up in the sun on the vine. So they really Sun golden. I have two Casino Chips plants that were set out may 2-4 weeks after these sungold, and they have yet ripen anything and are much smaller. The two sungold vines must have ripened well over a thousand cherry tomatoes by now, probably more. I also have a Sara's Galapagos that's enormous but doesn't set so much fruit, and when it does they're really small, red cherries that taste so so. So in summary, I think I'll just go for one strong sungold next year, since I can't give away and eat enough of them, great tasting as they are.

Pinklady, I have few tomatoes on it, not loaded but ok. None ripe yet. It is suppose to be 85 days or so. This is my first year growing it. I will post once I pick a ripe tomato.

To my surprise I actually found 3 tomatoes blushing on my Red Barn plant yesterday. Maybe I'll be posting the first photo.

Red Barn was the first red to ripen in my garden and I'm onto eating my third one. The one I have in the photo is well over a pound but I don't have a scale. Flavor is kind of on the mild side but has been the most productive for setting fruit in this rather interesting summer weather we've had.

I hope it improves it's taste with time, it does look great. Some early tomatoes I have picked were some what bland as well. They got better now. I agree, the weather was so creasy this year. Good luck to all.
