Off to another roaring start and with several new varieties (as usual). Glad to see you on here!

Old TomatoTone - Good
New TomatoTone- Not so much. Actually several threads here about that very subject. Yes, formulation was changed about 4 years ago to make it fully organic. Many of us that grow in SWC find the new product delivers poor results unless heavily supplemented. |

This is killing me! It looks great out there. I'm looking out our window at snow (and there's another storm expected tomorrow, too.) Thanks for sharing a bit of your spring with those of us who don't have one yet!

Ray - I didn't realize that you didn't like new TT at all and thought you just liked it less. In that case, what is your "go to" fertilizer now other than old TT which mere mortals cannot acquire at this point? I know you've tested a bunch already. Thanks.

Deyayne,
I've got 18 pounds left out of the 20 pound bag I purchased. All 18 pounds will be dispersed around my citrus trees. None will ever be used on my tomato plants again! At the moment, the Fertilome brand fertilizer looks to be the closest match to the "old" Tomato-tone including the trace elements. In-the-ground trials will be my best verification. Raybo |

Ok, so far I haven't either and they seem to be ok. I'm surprised you don't touch em at all, but sounds good to me.

The peas look fantastic. I'm going to try a couple this year. I hope to get them started by mid-March.
Being my first year, I want to give the tomatoes I am going to try the best chance I can. I intend to try a couple of fertilizers (happy to share results), but want something to be my primary one. The only Fertilome I have been able to find is their "Tomato and Vegetable Food", but it is 7-22-8. Is that the one you are going to try, or do you have something else? They also make a 4-4-5 Tomato and vegetable food they sell under the brand "Natural Guard". Neither of those looks to me like the old Tomato Tone. Your help is appreciated. |

I saw a bag of that Fertilome showing 7-22-8 on Ozbo and thought it was a misprint. Odd formulation for a general veggie food. I did see another one which was close to the old TT so that may be what Raybo has.

Yes, this is the Fertilome product (7-22-8) I am evaluating as part of my trials. Might be a bit high in phorphous, but it has many of the trace minerals which were in the "old" Tomato-tone.
The High Yield Garden is 8-10-8 that I am also trialing. Raybo Last edited by rnewste; March 5, 2013 at 01:03 AM. |

My bad. I thought the High Yield was also a Fertilome product.
