This is cool info. I now get it. It would make more sense to me if it were spelled with a lower case 'o' like this: Gary'o Sena. I like the info because people like the extra historical info when you describe the plant.

I assume it was just her last name. He has another tomato named Liz Birt that is named after someone that is involved with Autism. Another example would be Abraham Lincoln.
Just think if at some time there was a child in your family that called you Deb'ah because they had trouble with the R and it stuck. If someone named a tomato after you it could be Deb'ah Last_Name. It looks odd because it's not common to have an apostrophe in a first name and there are many names that are O'name. |

O' (o apostrophe) is the English practice of contracting the word of to o'. That is not the case here. It is 'O (apostrophe O). I suspect it is from the practice of substituting an apostrophe to represent other special characters to non English names. I can't make the characters because the character set is not available here, but here is a cut and paste of the name Gearóidín. Notice the apostrophe over the o - so what they did was translate that to 'O. That is my guess and assumption which I think is a good one. I assumed Sena was a surname that could be an adaptation from a gaelic name or some other source.

OK, I'm getting it and thanks everyone.
Doug, strange you said that-I did daycare for years and the sweet little toddlers called me "Debba". I miss "Debba" sometimes. |

Gary' O Sena is great...not a heavy producer in my experience, but has an awesome sweet and smokey flavor. Liz Birt and Dora are also rock stars from Keith, but Purple Haze puts them all to shame.
