We have found the Barlow Jap to be excellent, we rate it 8.5 when fully ripe. It's firm and meaty, juicy, great "old time" tomato flavor. One of our very favorites so far this year and high chance we'll grow it again next year.

IMG_1551.jpg Pruden's Purple. 1lb 3 1/4 ounce.
I have several more "contenders" growing at the moment. Maybe one of them will pass my humble 1lb 3 ounce mark for this season.

I love this thread, and especially love the shots of the tomatoes that are so big you can hardly see the scales...LOL

I harvested a 2.34 lb Goose Rock a couple of days ago. I think I have a MegaMarv that will be heavier.

update:
my biggest so far was a Ludmilla's pink heart at 606 grams 1lb 5.4 oz I have only a couple more that might be bigger. I got the seed from Carolyn's seed offer this year. It's a lovely juicy and meaty tomato. really good in my opinion. and pretty early for my area too. KarenO |

My sole purpose for growing tomatoes is growing giants only.
My largest of this season and my personal best thus far is my 4.48 LB Big Zac pictured here; Currently I hold seventh place in the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth's world tomato competition. By the contest is over next month I expect to still be in the top 25 out of 175 or so entries.

So far it has been Red Butter Heart for me, the largest in at 34 ounces (2 lbs 2 ounces) on my scale which is old and non-digital and not certified by anyone but me but close enough for the girls I used to date. The photo is of that tomato and some of her sisters picked the same day.

18 ounce Dana's Dusky Rose was my largest tom to escape the squirrels. Don't know how they missed that one.

My single biggest tomato was a West Virginia Sweet Meat. That plant also collectively had the largest tomatoes.
