If the weirdness scale goes to infinity...and beyond, I might be measurable.

And yes I do find many of the people here weird.
I went to a tomato gathering once and saw many of these tomato freaks.
Going home I found myself wondering how on earth did I even end up there.
I didn't fit in and never even tasted a tomato.

You are in your own class of weirdness, Worth, that's why we love you so much.

Love this thread...Maybe the weirder you are the better you are at growing tomatoes?! There clearly must be some sort of correlation.

Buzz, are you a math professor or something like that?

Ok, I do not think I am a biggest weirdo, just love to share my tomato obsession with my family, my friends, my coworkers, my dentist, sales person at the store, and my neighbors. It does not make me weird. Does it?

Ella,

I think Tormato is referring to Buzz Lightyear but I could be wrong... not so much a math thing but a Toy Story thing.

Weird-ness is in the eye of the beholder...and my husband has learned to close his eyes.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm a 1. Sorry, I just don't think that growing and caring for tomatoes is weird. I literally have thousands of pictures of my tomatoes and tomato plants over the years and that's not weird to me, it's just documenting things. In other diciplines people who make careful observations and document things are celebrated. Ergo why is it weird when the same thing is done for tomatoes - which is an important food staple? Basically people who perceive it as being weird are misguided.

Randy,

The key to your statement is "that's not weird to me".

You're a 1 to you, and you've convinced me you're a 1.

Now, if you put all your pictures in a photo album and walked up to strangers to show them, how do you think they would perceive you?

As for me, its planting 100+ tomato plants a year, with almost no documentation other than what the tomato is called. Lots of experimental tomatoes in the mix, and nearly all of the "documentation" is kept in my head. Is that weird enough for you?

If you walk up to a stranger and show them 1000+ pictures of just about anything they're going to think you're weird. But that would have more to do with them thinking I don't know you so why are you showing me this.

Keeping all that in your head just shows you have good memory and cognitive powers. That's a good thing.

Basically most people have a preoccupation with their hobby. When it becomes compulsive/obsessive to the point where they can't hold a job and/or have a relationship then its an issue and yeah that's weird.

Yep, it's all in good tongue in cheek humor. But, to keep things interesting you need that devil's advocate that says it isn't weird no matter what the behaviour pattern. Well, maybe you don't need that, but I like to do it anyhow.
