Interesting that no one has mentioned Green Zebra, which was the first one around here that generated any interest at all in GWRs. Although, I admit, I don't really care for it all that much; I'd much rather have my Aunt
Ruby's German Green! (or the Dwarf Project look-alike I've been working with, from the Quirky Numbat line - hope it settles down and passes muster soon so we can share it!).

GZ tends to have a fair bit of BER in my garden but I am planning to do it this year, I just find that it is more unique and I'm looking for green that's solid and hearty and similar in flavour to greens like GG. Karen I actually tend to pick those big boys early (and sometimes end up eating them a little more tangy and underripe than I would like) but once they really start coming in I find that as they start to cover the counter they really ripen/overripen fast...dwarf relative sounds like it might be a good alternative.

Even if you decide on another one there is always room for Lime Green Salad, a stick out of the yard will hold it up. It will turn yellowish when fully ripe and the flavors vary in the different stages of ripeness. Don't miss out on this one, it is seldom spoken of but a fantastic tomato of the smaller varieties. I would like to throw out a suggestion of Green Zebra Cherry. I was a very good producer of large cherries for us last year. The taste was not at all like Green Zebra, but was instead sweet and tomatoey

I'd stick with Green Giant. I haven't found any other green that's comparable in flavor. Store it stem down to lessen bruising. Also, turn it over every 24 hours, if the tomato lasts that long in your kitchen (it doesn't in mine). Or, cut the stem extra long and hang it. Or, find a small piece of memory foam and make a bed for it. Or,... Dr. Lve Apple |

I've grown Aunt Ruby's twice now and never reap more than a couple of tomatoes. I've had much better luck with Cherokee Green and really like the flavor. Grew one Green Zebra plant last year and it didn't wow me with flavor or production.
This year I've started seed for a couple of Kelly Green Dwarf plants. |

Another vote for Malakhitovaya Shkatulka.
For me, this is the best out of the three that I have grown in terms of flavor and productivity. The other two I have grown are Aunt Ruby's German Green and Green Giant. The flavor on Aunt Ruby's German Green was not consistent, and Green Giant wasn't productive for me. |
