And you might also consider Sweet Ozark Orange. Sam is still offering seeds for it in the trade section of the seed exchange
There is never consensus on how a varietiy tastes b'c there are just too many variables involved. Acid tasting? No, there's a very narrow range of pH with tomatoes. Taste is both personal and preceptual. Tomato colors? Same situation as to color perception. I see AGG as gold, not orange and certainly not yellow. There are very very few varieties that are yellow at maturity. Carolyn

I enjoy a strong tasting tomato (old fashioned, tangy, rich, etc) and thought Aunt Gertie's Gold was amazing! At least the one large one that matured before fall was. I'd love to grow it again, but it was just too late to really produce enough. When garden space and time are no longer issues, I will be including it in my grow list again.

I can second Galina's Yellow Cherry, KBX and Azoychka for among my favorites. Azoychka is nice and tangy which I love. Others I would add are Dagma's Perfection, Dr. Wyche's Yellow, Hugh's Yellow, Lilian's Yellow Heirloom, Little Lucky (actually a yellow bi-color with superb flavor), Porkchop (fantastic flavor - yellow with green stripes), Sugar Drop Cherry (very sweet). and maybe Summertime Yellow (new last summer and OK but needs another try). New ones I will try this summer are Casey's Pure Yellow (mentioned above but new for me), Dixie's Golden Giant, Dwarf Sweet Sue, Honeydrop Cherry Tomato, and Manyel. I have grown many gold and orange but have tried to choose ones as close to the yellow as possible. Some of the new ones may not be as yellow but more gold. I'll see when I grow them! A lot depends on whether you prefer a mild flavor or more tartness. Yellow and whites (light yellow) are usually milder in flavor and therefore not everyone's favorite. But you will never know till you try some and may be pleasantly surprised!

They are not for sale. You just have to ask ChrisK and see? 2012 crosses

Here's another vote for Porkchop. Nice tangy flavor.

Thanks, everyone. I've already ordered a few of the suggestions here. I'm going from no yellow/orange tomatoes at all to about 30 of them. Surely I'll be able to find one I like from them.
You all are correct in saying tomato preference is subjective. My taste buds prefer a tart juicy tomato. To me the yellows and especially the whites have always fallen short. They are as Gardadore says just to mild. |

I hope you ordered Azoychka, because it is definitely not bland - acidic, with a slight citrus taste. I agree with most yellows being too bland, but do like Aunt Gertie's Gold as well. Do try Dwarf Blazing Beauty (more orange) when you have a chance, being a new release it may be harder to find.

Really looking forward to growing & tasting Azoychka this coming summer, G-d willing. Have read so many glowing reports on it, it's been on my grow list since last year. Will be fun to test something that is supposedly completely different from black tomatoes - I absolutely fell in love with the black varieties, and am a fan for life. If homegrown yellows are anything that good, then...

[QUOTE] Well I didn't order it yet. But why not, what's one more variety? In for a penny and all. |

Since you are going from no yellows or oranges to many of them, have you considered green-when-ripe (GWR) varieties?
GWR types are yellows with the addition of the green flesh (gf) gene which causes retained chlorophyll to stain the yellow flesh, resulting in flesh that appears green when the tomato is fully ripe. For reasons not fully understood by me, the retention of chlorophyll in the flesh of the yellow tomato adds noticeable highlights to the flavor of yellow tomatoes. The foliage also benefits from chlorophyll retention in terms of plant health. |

Walt,
I too like acidic tomatoes and highly recommend the following yellow/bi-color/orange (a few mentioned by previous posters). - Nikolayev Yellow Cherry - Taxi - Gail - Dagma's Perfection - Little Lucky - Flamme - Tangella |

Dr. Wyches is a good large yellow but if you don't mind a more golden tomato then go with KBX.
