Peppergal came today. Good selection of peppers. But I really need to see some tomatoes soon.

Well, now Stokes has already sent me TWO 2007 catalogs this week ... I guess because I ordered seeds sent to two different addresses in the last few years.

Happy Thanksgiving Day, everyone! (I found four ripe Ramapoes in my paper sack "humidor" out in the garage last night.)

Does Marianna's Heirloom Seeds have a print catalog? I don't see where to order one, but maybe because they don't offer one.

In the past Marianne Jones has offered a hard copy catalog, which I much prefer. There must be someplace at her website where you can ask for one. If not, e-mail her and ask.

I'm one of those folks who absolutely cannot abide staring at my monitor at seed sites. Mind you I don't buy any seeds, but I like to keep up on who is offering what so I can perhaps help answer some questions.

I want to curl up with my catalogs in my recliner lounger with some forbidden food at my right and listen to my kind of music as I persue catalogs.

Thanks Carolyn! I'll e-mail her and ask for a catalog.

I prefer hard copies too. I've practically worn the covers off of my catalogs I received this past season.

Okay, a little lull inbetween the first round of catalogs and this week's round ...

Totally Tomatoes
Pinetree Garden Seeds
Vermont Bean Seed Company

All three came today.

Lots more browsin' to do now.

TT has some interesting new tomatoes.

But I think I'll look through the other two catalogs first.

Perhaps.

But I got my TT and Vt Bean and Seymours today as well and it really bugs me to see all the errors for many of the tomato blurbs.

I spent hours and hours proofing that catalog several years ago and Martin was supposed to give them my corrections.

It didn't happen.

Mule Team grown for generations, I think it said. Nope. Bred by Joe Bratka's father and I introduced it in the early 90's. Same for Box Car Willie, Red Barn, Pasture and Great Divide.

Arkansas Traveler, nee Traveler, an heirloom from the Ozark Mts? Nope, bred at the U of Arkansas, and on and on we go.

Yes, some of the errors have been corrected, but......

Carolyn,

I understand your dismay. Such silly disinformation as you point out is unnecessary and actually conterproductive to all our purposes.

I noted other junk text ... as I'm sure you did to a greater extent as your knowledge is broader than mine ... like having two separate blurbs on two separate pages, one for Gardener's Delight and another for Sugar Lump. And really that is one of the least.

But whatcha gonna do???

My comment about their interesting new stuff still stands ... 'cause it's kinda like Wal*Mart ... I may despise their policies and practices ... but when they sell a prescription critical to my uninsured adult daughter's life and health for 5.30 vs. 30 bucks at Walgreen's ... well whatcha gonna do ...

Goodness knows TT ain't the only capitalists who fib about their product. So, maybe I'll just use the TT catalog for reference and photos and buy from someone else ... maybe not. Last year I only bought a few things from them ... Big Zac, Black Pearl (pepper), Sungella, and maybe one or two other things.

I've already sent my Totally T order in, as I need more Big Zac seed. I will also be growing Old Brooks, Winsall, and Manitoba (in a pot), thanks to TT.

In addition, their Kung Pao, Thai Hot, and Super Chiles will also be new additions next year.

I just ordered 30 BZ seeds from TT. I hope they were not the last 30.

PV, I know exactly what you mean. My prescriptions would run over 400 a month, and that doesnt include the ones to help with pain. Walmart is 125.00 a month and that includes the pain meds. I have not compared the prices on Humira for my Spondylitis as I have not used it all. And have been doing wonderful on the supps that were mentioned on another thread. Sometimes, you have no choices but to choose places that have what you want at a price you can afford. I have never ordered from TT, as i love SandHills prices and quantities.... but I would love to try Alaskan Fancy...so i may have to place an order.... Cest la Vie....

I always order some from TT. I order about as many peppers as tomatoes anymore. As I have already ordered tomatoes from about 6 sites. Hopefully I can control the urge and not order anymore this year. LOL. I can get varities I don't find anywhere else at good prices with great service. JD
