Haha... I knew somebody would say something like that because of my wording. What I meant was does anybody think it could be an everglades on fish steroids... lol. Or is it more likely to be something else.... :-)

Its all good.... I am not a picky tomato person. so far I have liked them all except Indigo Rose and that might have been because it got too late of a start to do much.

I was just looking at this site http://www.mgonlinestore.com/WFETomato/ an hour ago. It is about Everglades tomatoes. I found it on a thread here from 2010. There are pics to click on - on that site.

I'm leaning towards it being something else...maybe?

That's funny I was looking at the site to find info on how big the plants get. I have two raised beds 3' x 12'. One bed I want to grow Texas Wild tomatoes, and the other I wasn't sure if I wanted to grow Everglades or Matt's Wild. I chose Everglades. Now I have to wait until next spring. Winter is going to seem soooo long this year.

Well in just about 1 1/2 months you will need to start your peppers.
In two months you will need to start your tomatoes.
Then you will be running around like hen without her chicks waiting for the last freeze or frost so you can plant them.

Its gonna get real busy real soon.

Don't forget to plant more seeds than you need so if you lose some plants to a freeze after you put them out you will have some waiting on the sidelines.

Ok check this out. My neighbor who is only here for the winter months told me she threw out some rotten cherry tomatoes two years ago by the waters edge.
She said last year when they were here she was weed eating in that same area and she weed eated a volunteer tomato plant that sprouted up where she had tossed the rotten cherry tomatoes the prior year. So we went to see if any plants had sprouted up this year and sure enough there is a scraggly looking sorry excuse of a tomato plant with green tomatoes on it. it is growing on the shoreline of the intracoastal waterway (salt water) without any input or interference from us.

Below are some pictures... one shows the plant in the left corner of the picture so that you can see the water also. The next is a close up of the plant.

Below is the plant in the foreground and the water and a passing boat in the background.

And below is a closeup of some of the leaves. It is RL. If you look closely they are peaking out in the lower right hand area of the photo.

Did I read that correctly? - $7.95 for 15-20 seeds of everglades tomato. OUCH!!!

ALittleSalt - I have Everglades from a cutting and Matts Wild Cherry from seed (now).

I planted 2 MWC seeds and both are big plants now;
One of the MWC in a SCW is huge - we had a ton of wind over the weekend and I had to use bungie cords to keep it contained. None of the toms are ripe yet so can't compare taste.

I didnt remember it being that expensive but I guess it was now that you mention it. I probably blocked it out of my memory as I've spent way too much money buying tomato seeds since January of this year. I dont want any more because I already have too many that I want to try and dont have room for.

I have one tomato plant that I had to tie down the cage it is in. 40 mph winds with stronger gusts blew it down. It looks kind of funny, but it works.

It will be nice comparing the two. I would like to know what you think about them.
