Yep, started looking through my "seed vault"...and of course all the 2007 catalogs which always seem to arrive simultaneously, and realized its time to start getting down to brass tacks. At the present time(subject to frequent change..lol) I've kinda sorta figured out the majority of my sweet pepper cultivars, most of which are hybrids. The hot stuff for the most part will be open pollinated with a couple hybrids tossed in.
Good growing Richard!! Hope the seeds I sent ya will provide a lot of fun for the family!! That book Seed to Seed by Suzanne Ashworth is a wonderful resource for anyone interested in seed saving and gardening in general. Suzanne hasn't steered me wrong yet and has probably forgotten more about crops than I'll ever know...lol. Sweet -Carmen -Islander -Hershey -Mavras -Sweet Spot -Tawny Port -couple more OP ones Warm Ones -Aji Golden -Barney Chile -Black Scorpion Tongue -Buist's Yellow Cayenne -Charleston Hot -Criolla Sella -Czechoslovakian Black -Dragon's Claw -Fatalii -Hinkelhatz(yellow) -Hinkelhatz(red) -Hot Paper lantern -Lemon Drop -Lidija's Serbian -Martin's Carrot chile -Mossman Lemon Yellow -Naga Jolokia -Numex 6-4 -Nepali Orange -PI 439370(USDA via Bulgaria) -Safi Red -Slav Yellow Ferona -Wenk's Yellow Hots -a few other last minute adds plus some hybrids -Capsicum chacoense...should be a fun one!! -2 as of yet unnamed home f3 hybrids |

2007 Pepper Garden
Growing indoors I can have more than "season". To name a few of the ones I'll be trying:
Hots Numex Big Jim - Already started Georgia Flame Fish Jamaican Hot Chocolate Pepperoncini Sweets Elephant's Ear - Has already produced Chinese Giant & Quadrato D'Asti Rosso have peppers on them, but I think they need better lighting. The peppers have stunted growth and aren't ripening. I have plenty of hot & sweet peppers received in trade this year. I'll be doing research on all the varieties to determine the growing order. I plan on growing them all eventually. Jeff |

Richard,
I do appreciate the offer but if I took them, ‘I would just be a seed collector. I’m not apposed to seed collecting for others but for me I actually want to grow the things. This would be no problem, if I was here at home all of the time, but I’m not? I feel I am putting quite a burden on my wife as it is and am trying to do everything possible to make it as easy as possible for her. I have even thought about enlisting the help from a neighbor to help her and I would gladly pay this person to do it. I want my wife to have success with the plants and if she has too many to take care of this might not happen. Which may discourage her from gardening and we don’t need that. She has done a real stand up job so far. So send them if you want but I cannot guarantee I would start them. My belief is that folks that send seeds to others think they will be put to good use. I can’t guarantee that, thus the reason I did not join in on Carolyn’s seed giveaway. I felt they would be put to better use elsewhere. Thank you very much for the offer. Worth |

This years pepper garden plan is for:
10 Early Jalapeno - Very early, hot and VERY reliable. 4 Jalapeno Goliath F1* - Big, hype says 30% hotter. 2 Kung Pao F1* - Long, hot and dries well. 2 Thai Hot - Very hot, prolific, and dries well. 2 Garden Salsa - Very large, hot, good stuffed/roasted. 2 Sweet Havana F1* - Very large cubanelle type. * 1st Time growing. Rejected: Serrano Del Sol and Ring of Fire Cayenne. Had high hopes last year but both had poor production of unremarkable peppers. |

I wasn't going to grow peppers of any kind this year, after several failed attempts in the past. But I saw some Carmen seedlings at the nursery that I couldn't resist. Two of them been in the ground for, oh, about six weeks now and I have several fruit ranging in size from 1" to 4" long.

You're a little ahead of me, FlipTX. I have a three inch pepper on Melrose and a tiny one on Tenn. Cheese. I had about a dozen little peppers on my Doe Hill plants but noticed today a bug had bored into several of them. At least the bug has good taste. None of my hot peppers have even flowered yet so they're safe.

How's everyone's pepper garden doing? My first Carmen peppers are just starting to ripen. I'm encouraged enough by my pepper attempt this year to expand my horizons a bit next year.
