Terrenzo is the sweetest hybrid cherry I've grown. The fruit are red and fairly large for a cherry tomato. It's a bushy determinate and good for containers. Lizzano is supposed to be similar, but I have not yet tried it.

I found on many sites that Amish Gold is said to be a cross between Amish Paste and Sungold. The pictures I've seen look really nice. I have Amish Gold penciled in on my must grow list for spring/summer. I can't wait to taste one.

I haven't found any medium or large tomato that tastes like Sungold. I can offer a recipe with Sungold you may want to try. I make a cherry tomato bruschetta that includes Sungold, halved, and Black Cherry, quartered. If I have other cherry varieties I include those as well. To that I add diced red onion, diced tomatillo if available. Mix with a tablespoon or so of balsamic vinegar, basil, cilantro if available (optional). If you like it spicy you may add chili pepper, however I like it sweet. Gently mix it, put in a storage container and let it marinate overnight.

The Sun people now have Sunorange which is slightly bigger and doesn't split as much.
I myself feel sauces with Sungold are too sweet. I don't add sugar to my sauces. I tried it, and will never use cherries for sauces again. |
