I have on occasion had some that wouldn't break free no matter what I did or didn't do. I did the water thing, humidity thing, covering with saran wrap and spit.
When nothing works and you know it is going to die, I always give them one last chance by attempting to cut them off. I have gotten good at it, because one year, I had a lot of them. I found that there is a "best" place to cut and you need a good pair of sharp scissors or clippers. Instead of trying to describe with words where to cut, I drew a pic. Lorri D |

I use spit it is the best.
It isn't gross, it came out of your mouth for crying out loud. Of all the scientific words for different parts of a seed and the only thing they could come up with for the outer part of one is "seed coat". Oh here it is, it is called a Testa. Okay so your testa are getting stuck to your cotyledon and wont come off. Yes it is Okay to put saliva on the testa so they will moisten and come off the cotyledon. Worth |
