The fruits. I noticed no taste difference, I perceive the pl fruits to taste better, but that is likely I finally learned to not let black tomatoes get overripe!!! Lol Productivity, more a function of growing condition. Big funky flowers often times. Then heart shape was never that strong in this tomato IMO. But the texture is classic heart. Very meaty with small gel/seed cavities. 2010 got original seeds from tomatofest. I did not grow in 2014. Last edited by True Timbers; January 28, 2015 at 10:46 PM. |

TT,
Your post must have popped up while I was writing an answer to the previous post. My questions about F2's and Glacier? was for Karen. But...I got your PM, and would be interested in your BBH PL seed. |

That's fine, pm where to send them and I will get them out while fresh on my mind. Send back whatever you would like to see at market, in a cool maritime climate.

I will have help with the F3's I decide to grow out and I think I will concentrate on the PL hearts to start. When I made the cross, my wishful thinking was that it might produce an interesting PL heart and it did but the other most important thing to me is to breed a tomato that does well here in my northern garden. It is very important to me that selections be made from plants grown up here in zone 3. Now a tomato developed up here will likely do well elsewhere but a tomato developed elsewhere might not do well here. There have been very few really good OP indeterminate tomatoes developed up here and my goal is to produce more than one. A group of "True north tomatoes" is what I mean to have at the end of it all and you will be one of the very first to get stable seed since you have done so much for me by making me into a tomato addict with your swaps The crossed "glacier" I grew last year was a sort of blunt heart. It looked quite promising while green but it was quite late. It ripened a light red but had uneven ripening with yellow shoulders and a really odd almost "fishy" bland taste. Karen, if you need more more help/grow space in zone 3, you know I'll be glad to lend a hand.
