I see you have Zachary down as PL and RL, do you know which one it is and who the seed source is?

Heckuva list btw!

Thanks,
Allen

Great list but let me speak to the first two on your list.

The first one is really Jaune Flammee which I know well since back in 1992 several of us traded seeds with Norbert in France and this is one of the ones we got.

I sent seeds to Linda at Tomato Growers Supply for trial and accidentally left off the Jaune part so for a while she just listed it as Flammee.

Flame is a totally different variety ,but I won't go into that unless you want me to.

Perfect Flame? Had to Google that one and when I did I recognized what it was:

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...t+flame+tomato

Deliberately bred variety between Peron, which is a small round red and what they called Flamme, misspelled which I assume is Jaune Flammee.

Hopethat helps,

Carolyn

Default Flamme is Juane Flammee

Hi Carolyn--
I confess to shortening the difficult to pronounce name. Also need to add Jolly, Mint Julep and Mountain Fresh.

Tamayo R tomatillo is looking good--large and relatively productive.

Louisiana Oval Green eggplants starting to flower.

Bill

I started over 250 plants this year - tomato (8 varieties) and pepper (11 varieties) and will only grow out about 120 total of those for myself, mostly peppers ... the rest are to be given away, half of the remainder already have been, thankfully.
You are correct about the retired part. I have done a little farm labor in my youth but was never a full time farmer. We do own 2 farms but both are in Illinois about 5 hours away so I grow tomatoes in the back yard. I have 112 plants. I start about 500 plants and give away all the seedling that I don't grow to friends, acquaintances, and some community garden groups. We do not sell or can so what fruits we don't eat and use for seed are given away.

No I am not a market grower; I don't want to make a business out something I enjoy. I grow 112 plants and about 100 different varieties so mostly one of each variety. I guess I assume that to meet customer wants I would have to grow several of each variety in order to have stock every week or day.

Allen,

It is a PL; see pics. I had a master list of all 2015 varieties and then separated out the PL's and apparently forgot to delete Zachary from the original list. I received the seeds from Andrea's 2014 swap. If you don't already have it, I should have plenty this fall if you want to try it.

Kygreg,
Heirloomtomaguy just sent me some seeds, I do appreciate your kindness though! I wish I knew more about the tomatoe's history and didn't know if it was pl or rl so thanks, your plant looks great, as well as your whole garden ...

You don't by chance have pics of the Zachary fruit do you?

Al

I listed seeds for Zachary in my 2014 seed offer, seeds from Steve at Heritage Seeds and this is what he said as I noted on my listing for it:

(Zachary, F9 growout of Purple Haze F1, PL ( save seeds only from PL plants))

So Zachary was still not stable and was throwing both RL and PL plants.

Hope that helps,

Carolyn

Sorry, I do not. This is the first year I have grown it. Will try to remember to post pics this summer or fall.

Bump to ask how you liked Idaho Hillbilly? I am trying to decide if I should grow it this year.

I was surprised that the fruits were elongated. I had little information about it and did not expect with a name like "hillbilly" that it would be elongated. It was pretty much in line with other elongated varieties -good taste, not great; I think I prefer South American Banana a little better.

I received seeds for it in this year's MMMM and this was all I could find on it - http://www.secret-seedcartel.com/car...daho-hillbilly

I too was surprised to see it was an elongated paste given the name.
