A little too early but I give it a try:
From Last year : Unknown Heart ; CP, + Ananas Noire, + Large Red Cherry. == 4 From 2015 Try Outs: Big Beef (F1) ; + Azoychka, + Willamette, + Black From Tula, + Rosella Crimson, + Indigo Rose, + Purple Heart. + Kumato (F3) == 8 The ones written in blue are my stars. I also want to have a few new addition , Possibly: Better Boy, + New Big Dwarf, + Aunt Ginnys Gold (or another gold color), ...== 3 A grand total of 15 varieties. I am already going overboard. I should stop right here. hehe This year I am growing about 30 varieties. Way overboard. Gardeneer |

You should definitely try Black Cherry. It's so early, it's a great one to have around while the other's are ripening. Tastes more like the bigger black/purple tomatoes than like a Cherry tomato. I always grow at least two Black Cherry plants so that I don't run out of them. Ginny |

KarenO - so excited you are working on your own creations. Looking forward to seeing your results.
WXCrawler and Gardeneer - more votes for Big Beef... that makes 4 posters that are returning Big Beef out of 10 posters. So cool! Ginny |

Weeds for sure.
Big Beef Sun gold JD'S Special from C Tx Carbon Lemon Boy Amish Gold... maybe Goliath/Early Goliath 4th of July (which it isn't ready by) Tiger and bumblebee series Sweet Million... maybe San Marzano/Super san marzano/Roma's More Big Beef... lots more. ( I'll plant at least 100 of them) Tasmanian Chocolate A green when ripe... I forgot the GWR cherry ones this year so for sure those next year Hopefully the dwarf project again. AND speaking of PL cherries.. I do have a pink PL cherry that someone sent me. I haven't seen her on here in quite some time, but it she called it San Antonio Surprise. It is a nice sized pink cherry (5/8" maybe) not acidic or tangy... a little sweet. not an intense flavor, but it isn't bad. Just not my favorite in the garden. I just like a stronger flavor than it is. If you want some let me know.

It will be a tough choice, a delicate balance between curiosity for new varieties and faithfulness to tasty favorites. I think Orange Banana will make it to next year - it is so sweet that I don't think I can bear to be without.
Azoyhka will be grown for my mom, she said today that when left to ripen in the sun until golden, the taste of those fruits was so good she could have eaten them without limit. Although she hates the large trusses and long stems which branch to every direction, the taste is worth it. Possibly: Pink Tiger (super good), Green Zebra (like a tropical fruit), and Golden Nugget (early & reliable) Last edited by NarnianGarden; September 1, 2015 at 04:17 PM. |

For me, I'm interested in sauce and paste tomatoes. Opalka and Romeo were productive especially Romeo, and are giant sized pastes. Here's Romeo. Last edited by drew51; September 1, 2015 at 11:02 AM. |

I have now limited my black varieties to just a few of the best tasting and best performing since I have to fight gray mold on them every year; it seems crazy to do all that work for ones that don't do as well or taste as good for me:
ISPL IS JD's Special C Tex Spudakee (far more dependable and productive than CP just potato leaf) Berkely Tie Dye Pink Carbon (for fall only) Reds and Pinks that will return: Pruden's Purple Brandywine Cowlick's and Sudduth's Barlow Jap Dester Red Barn Royal Hillbilly (although the leaf curl may give me second thoughts on this one) Donskoi Limbaugh's Legacy Arkansas Traveler Couilles de Taureau Henderson's Winsall German Johnson Giant Belgium Neves Azorean Red Tarasenko-6 Only one bi-color makes the cut for me each year now and that is: Virginia Sweet Ones on the bubble for next year are: Druzba (very late and not very productive the past two years) Terhune (has been poor the last two years also) Of course all this is dependent on getting a good graft so some varieties are not present each year because of poor grafting luck. This past year I didn't get a single good graft of BTDP or Carbon so I didn't grow them. Instead I planted more Pruden's Purple which grafted great last year. I would like to try Margaret Curtain and Rebel Yell if someone wants to trade some seeds. I have quite a few other varieties of seed besides the ones mentioned above because of trying so many different varieties the last ten years. PM me if you are interested in trading. Bill |
