Malakhitovaya Shkatulka in a container was a difficult plant for me. It struggled this year when many others tomatoes flourished in the same growing conditions.

It's a brute of a plant with big vines and large thick leaves that hungrily suck up water and nutrients. It was very intolerant of not getting ample water on hot days to the growing tips and would show it's displeasure with mold on the new growth. Interested in how other gardeners grow this plant. I grew it 4 stems in a 15gal fabric pot and will reduce that to 2 stems next year. Also, I'll put this plant in my coolest garden spot, I don't think this is a great hot weather tomato.

The toms had a nice zing and a good overall flavor that got me 6th place in the annual Boulder Taste of Tomato. I believe looks and name went a long way in selling the mater, and this jewel would have won had I had more of it and got there earlier.

I want to try Green Giant also next year, potato leaves do well for me. Any thoughts on pruning both these in containers or in general would be appreciated.

Why not try Emerald Giant dwarf?
It would give you the Green Giant experience in a pot-friendly dwarf plant.

Esmeralda Golosina is so far the most delicious GWR I have tasted. (Green Zebra is another lovely one, but it may be better described as 'striped'..)
The most bland imho was Lime Green Salad. It's a very beautiful lush plant, but the flavor.. meh. Nothing bad, just a very boring, ordinary tomatoey flavor, that isn't enough a reward for me.. almost an anti-climax of sorts

Top favorites are Malakhitovaya Shkatulka and Green Giant.

The first one is more sweet. The second one is more tangy.

Great duet!
