Interesting, in this case I suspect unknown cross, but I'm not qualified to make that judgement. I'll leave it to someone else who wants to grow it out and knows what they're doing more than I do. |

I also got wrong CP seed from another commercial source a few years later. There's a thread on that too. It was frustrating indeed. Neither of my wrong seeds were worthy of growing again, BTW. Jen |

Thanks for posting, strange we have another one of these threads years later! If you want a couple seeds I should have a few extra. Ethan |

Hey Missions, what type of production have you gotten off your alien plant?

Less than what I typically get of cherokee purple it seems. its significantly shorter as well. I grew 8 ft cherokee purple plants in the same space, this is pushing maybe 5 ft.

I was just curious, this may be a tomato grown for taste, not production... I'm also wondering how it does with less heat, it may exhibit some different behaviour or something.

Yep, I agree on both accounts, its not a huge producer here. Cherokee purple is more productive, but it seems to like the heat. Wouldnt be surprised if it set more in cooler weather. Seeds finished fermenting today and are now drying. They'll be in the mail early next week.

I started 4 or 5 seeds, only 1 came up. Seeds were started 4/02...
It's a tri-cot BTW! Last edited by Al@NC; April 17, 2016 at 01:38 PM. |

Thanks for the update Al! Too bad the germ rate is low, probably could improve my fermentation method somehow. Interesting it came out to be a tricot. Ive never grown one out, mine died when I was lucky enough to come across one. Wonder if there are different characteristics that come with the mutation or if it doesnt impact the plant or fruit at all.

That's a great question Missions, I guess we'll see in the coming months.. I'm sure your fermentation methods are just fine btw.
I see other people on other sites wondering if the tricotyledon will pass on it's traits to future generations but I couldn't find an answer. Al |
