Go for it, file a patent asap! It takes 3 to 4 years to go through the process so you're better off keeping it a secret.

You dont mean like a collapsible frame, right? Sort of a like a wood teppee that can fold flat? I think there was another thread about this style of framing

I could see growing pole beans, runner beans, cucumbers, and squash on the A Frame/TP thing, but not tomato plants. Tomato plants grow wider at the top - not narrower.

Well, you could modify the A-frame to not end at a point on top but rather a square...

Maybe you can fund a patent application and initial production run via a Kickstarter campaign?

isuhunter, as I first replied, "I think your idea is good. I would like to see pictures" I am interested in what works for you.
I think that a lot of us are trying to find the best tomato supports for our personal gardens and situations. |

Good lord look at all of the fittings and glue.
By the time you got through you would be better off with Texas tomato cages. Plus they are ugly. Mine would be really nice and pleasing to the eye. You guys dont make me do this. Every night I have stayed up working on a projects till 2 in the morning and getting about 4 hours of sleep. Worth |

Here I whipped this sample up real quick.
No fitting stays put and no ugly expensive fittings and no glue. And looks good. To make it taller all you do is cut half the thickness of one pipe on the outside and half the thickness of the other pipe on the inside with a boring bar or reamer. In my climate everything needs to be anchored to the ground. The winds are fierce.
Worth, go to your local SBA office. They will hook you up with a volunteer to advise you of the patent process. You may also be eligible for a usda loan or grant. - Lisa Oh, and get some sleep. It becomes harder as we age. I sleep in chunks now. |
