I bought the 1020 trays and cell packs from Mega before and have had good use of them, lasting multiple years.
When I divide up and repot directly to 16 ounce solo cups, I get the cheapest rectangular laundry baskets from walmart and place 22 solo cups in each basket. There is a slight solid tray on the bottom of the baskets and I can bottom water or water from the top, no cups tip over and even with the bottom, not enough water stays to water log the babies. The laundry baskets made it easier to move around a lot of seedlings safely and are deep enough that the baskets can be stacked in a cross hatch and quickly covered when a frost threatened. Covered all under a cheapie thin clear painter's tarp and because the sides of the baskets were higher than the plants, worked great both for moving them about, covering them when needed, and yet letting light /air/wind blow in on them. It also made it very easy to transport the plants in the PU bed. No tipping over, no rolling about. I'll be using the same system this year as I saved my baskets, LOL. Excuse the thumb in the one picture. |

What a good idea.
Unfortunately, my laundry baskets are round.

My Parks Biodomes weren't cheap, but they are now 15 years old and going strong. Super for starting smaller amounts of seeds. Now, if I was growing in quantity, just see this thread. I have used this too, and it is awesome. http://tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=437.
