Growing lots more tomatoes in containers and less in the ground.
Growing microdwarfs for the first time, and more dwarfs. Growing tomatoes indoor for the first time. Successfully growing oxheart tomatoes for the first time. Also I'm seriously considering dismantling my raised beds after this season and turning them into no-till in-ground beds. |

Mat-Su Express and Olive Hill are exciting and new for me. Also will be testing new pruning and container growing techniques, as well as a variety of new soilless mixes.

There is a lot of excitement in the air.
I am growing about 20 new varieties. I don't which one should I be excited about. But as I like unusual ( other than just round red tomatoes ) I am more exited about orange/golden, bi color, pear shape, heart shape and variegated varieties. FRANCHI, HILLBILLY, PURPLE BUMBLEBEE, OLD GERMAN, DIXIE GOLDEN GIANT, ESTERINA F2... plus few more.

Looking forward to growing glass gem corn for my wife. She loves ornamental corn and we have purchased ears of it for decorating displays around the house. There is a space in the garden set aside for a few corn plants. May even shell some and try it for popcorn.
Our village has an Olde Tyme Autumn festival every year and this year there will be a giant pumpkin contest. My Atlantic Dill seeds are here and I am ready to give it another shot. Last time was seven or eight years ago and my largest was 101 pounds from a seed from a 1500 pounder. I can do better this time. Only a couple of new to me tomato varieties this year. Hope they do OK.

Excited to try Biyskaya Roza (Thanks Marsha), that Rebel Alliance looks way cool as well, and to propagate the next generation of Pink Berkeley Tie Dye/Indigo Apple crosses I scored from Wild BoarFarms last year.

In addition to the two I listed, how could I forget Mat-Su Express? AKMark's flavor description really has me looking forward to this one. It is getting the best spot in the garden!

I am getting excited just by all of it! I have some really hard decisons to make and figuring out where goes what, but those are good problems. Also will be re-learning to can again and I say re-learn as it has been more than 40 plus years since I did so.
My world went into a spin for many reasons this last year and I am trying to focus on positive things that will level out some of my highs and lows and change the direction of my thoughts, plus give me as much as I can stand and then a bit more, LOL, workout. Besides, I am longing for a good tasting tomato. |

http://t.tatianastomatobase.com:88/w...b=General_Info Somehow Fred lost his seeds for it, asked me if I still had some, so I sent all I had,I think, back to him. Why didn't I like it?The taste was far too aggresive for me, I don't know how else to describe it. Carolyn

I am most excited about growing Rebel Yell- last year I had only one plant, and just a few tomatoes were produced- but oh my goodness, what a flavor! Thank you Marsha for first introducing me to this incredible tomato. I am also excited by Not Purple Strawberry, which received rave reviews in the last few years...
Terhune is also a new one for me! |
