Save lots of seeds, I propose a winter west coast meet and greet seed trade

To Late .....they were gone already ...

they keep mysteriously disappearing ...


But don't worry there are lots more this time of year ....

Daily processing ...picking etc.

It must give a comforting feeling to look in the pantry and see all those jars.

I've got another 12# or so of raw tomatoes gonna be turned into soup in the next few days.

It is your, Northerners , To enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Down south we are having DOWN time. Or at least that is howw it is in my garden. Heat, pests, disease have taken their tool. I am not really trying to hard to protect anything. However I do spray, water , fertilize and leave the rest up to the nature.
On the positive note I have tons of peppers, with no setback. I have numerous Ghost pepper to last me for years. Can,t keep up with Jalapeno, Fresno and some sweet mini peppers.
Can't complain. First year down here , starting from scratch I've had a pretty good season.

BTW: Sungold is the only one keeps pumping.

EDIT:
Not to get bored, I an into fall gardening. D;

wooo boy ....I am trying to keep the harvest ..processing season

productive and not let it become the ......Mass Waste season !

I have done well so far the dedicated freezer is full ...and the

buckets keep coming this year ..processing... giving away ...freezer overload

Here my plants are showing signs of stress due to the record heat ..not good for containers etc. but a Bumper crop of peppers like ...we NEVER get here on the cool coast ...I have a mass of the cherry toms that I can not utilize if I do not

mass pick and bag them ...it could be mess of the ages . The Large Toms are exceptional this year .

Glad to hear you're swimming in tomatoes, BlackBear! That's the best kind of problem to have. Remember your local food bank if you have leftovers.

My mother's plants -hybrids- have been pumping them out left & right; I've been 'helping' her by taking them off of her hands, making the soup of my dreams. I hope to get one last batch of 12 or so pounds to make a bit more soup.

My own harvest is a little slim due to the septoria. Still have a nice supply of cherries though; gave a bunch to the food bank.

Most seed saving is done & packaged for the swap. I have one bagged fruit ripening on the table (with a well-trained household who knows not to touch it!). There are two varieties whose bagged fruit is still not ripe, then I'll be done. Germination tests are coming out great.

BlackBear, may I ask a question?

For next year, I want an early, ripen-all-at-once determinate, prolific, with a strong taste and relatively large fruit (4 oz or more) to jump-start my harvest. Any ideas?

trying to get all things done ....and Tomato clean up an harvest etc.

It is soooo record hot I am ....to hot to make My world famous Fall Borsht (13 Litres at a time !) ...will have to wait till the temps .go back down to an actual

"autumn" temp. in order to be efficient. Will have to go back out and work some more to clean up so as to not to waste ...

I don't know right now ....I am spinning ....ga ga ....with Tomato harvest ..

you might try : Detskiy Sladkiy


I am not sure about the early all at once thing (medium ) ?

It looks like a good one. Seems to be a lot of variation in size, some folks getting a large cherry, others getting tennis balls. what size were they for you? And how did they taste?
