<gives MissS that look, the ★★★★y one, then laughs and sticks out her tongue>

Weeeeelllll, I was sorta close....

I never had one of those USA wood block puzzles as a kid.

Seriously glad Barbee recalled the name of the gentleman.

Two more things I remember about Bill

When it was still possible to do so he was getting PL varieties from the German seed bank at Gatersleben,Germany.

So some of the seed packs I was asked to try and ID as to variety, were in German, which would have been OK,since at the time I was pretty good with my German. However, his handwriting on the packs was not always OK.

He also posted a link from Germany that showed FIVE different PL leaf forms, they were line drawings. But the next time I went to get it from my faves to share with others,it was not a working link.

Sorry to hear,

Bill was a very generous man and loved growing PL tomatoes. After growing Spudakee purple which Bill provided me with the seeds there was no turning back.

RIP my friend. Ami

In post I think 18 here I had mentioned the wonderful link Bill had to line drawings for 5 different PL forms but the link was no good now, I mean my link to it.

I was searching for something else and came up with this

http://thetomatogarden.★★★★★★★★★.com/thread/1382

Whoops, the software took it out but it was in 2011 at the The Tomato Garden.

Where Bill did refer to that German article . How I wish it was still available for everyone to see. In the original link not everyone agreed that there were 5 different versions.
