Duke's is a favorite in the South but I'm a Hellman's user. It seems the big cooking argument in these parts is using Duke's vs Hellman's in potato salad.

I had to order Duke's from Amazon to see what the fuss was about. It was good, but I like Hellman's better. Duke's tasted more lemony to me which would be good for some dishes.

I love Hellmans for salads, but for sandwiches and dipping sauces, Dukes, Kewpie, A La Cena Casera mayo... are all condiment crack! They make everything better.

Default My Duke's Story.

I was looking at mayonnaise in the store and Dukes was there.
It was on sale and I had it in my hand and set it back on the shelf.

A big older guy was next to me and he proclaimed, "You just set the best mayonnaise in the store back on the shelf."

Really I said, I will give it a try.
I did and I use it to this day.

I was raised on Miracle Whip Salad Dressing. I love the slight tartness it adds to everything. We put it on and in everything where folks use Mayonnaise. I've tried a bunch of brands of mayo, but they all have a blandness that seems chokingly flat and bland to me.

I keep a jar of Dukes on hand for guests. I chose Dukes because it also has a slight tartness that makes it good for a companion to those things we make with Miracle Whip. Especially, our beloved Deviled Eggs, Chicken/Turkey/Tuna/Ham salads, and potato salad, and BLT's.

I was too. Mom never used real Mayo.

Then I got a job at Burger King and was finally introduced to real mayo. Then I married my wife, and she refuses to use anything but Duke's. I can't stand MW anymore.

My mom still makes potato salad and deviled eggs with Miracle Whip - and our kids refuse to eat them :p

I've always been of the opinion that if you have a blender and a pantry you're 5 minutes from having mayonnaise. Having hens that are laying helps too.

And if you don't know what you're doing, 6 minutes from Salmonella.

And we can't make enough for the extended family. One recent member to join us didn't like lemon pie until he tasted the one we make now with only 1/4 cup sugar instead of the full one cup. Makes all the difference.

Take care

Egg safety is easier than knowing when the moon is waxing or what the tide is doing. If you don't live near an ocean tides are tricky. ;-)

For years my husband and I had the battle between Cain's (him) and Hellmann's (me). Last year that battle was ended with a jar, an immersion blender, and this recipe -- https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/...ayonnaise.html

When I'm visiting family, I buy it and bring it back. Otherwise I buy online from Duke's, and it's a good deal. And I may be among the oldest and most faithful Amazon customers.

Once I got a message that someone had gotten my Duke's, from my online order; they were aware and replaced it!

But I grew up on Hellman's, or whatever they call it here in California. Best Foods. I would eat it in a heartbeat. Even if it means I'm minus a few (heartbeats)
