Last year I grew Anna Russian, Kosovo, and Wes.
Only Wes had any flavor, but gave me my largest tomato of the year: 2.86#. This year German Red Strawberry is my only oxheart, and has tha largest fruit in the garden. Hope it doesn't disappoint in taste like the others did. |

Kosovo has been one of my very best of any type of tomato for 3 years running. Great flavor, good production, big.
Tried Anna Russian last year and got only a few fruits of middling size, but they were tasty. Trying it again this year in a different spot and it is producing both more and bigger fruits. Not ripe yet so I can't comment on flavor. |

Montana (forgive me, I've just been watching Deadwood),
You're in for a treat with Yasha Yugoslavian. That's a really nice tasting heart. I also like Kalman's Hungarian Pink, and GRS. This is the first year I've grown GRS and it's a fantastic tasting tomato; some have been absolute monsters. I've also grown Kosovo, Anna Russian, and Prue but have had bad luck with those three. Will have to try those again. I know Gimmie3 was growing a bunch of hearts this year - I hope he weighs in. Haven't seen him around here lately. |

I was born in USSR where we have been growing a lot of heart-shaped tomatoes. 30-40% of all local gardeners grow Bytch'e Serdtse (Bull's Heart) every year
These are what I'm growing this year and I believe my hearts will go on Bytch'e Serdtse (Bull's Heart) Rozovyi Myod (Pink Honey) Mazarini Tyazheloves Sibiri (Siberian Heavyweight) Juhas Dagestanskiy (from Tania via T.Yashchenko from Russia) Russkaya Dusha (Russian Soul) Kron-Prince and Utyonok actually bear a lemon/heart shaped fruits Orlinyi Klyuv (Eagle's Beak) Orlinoe Serdtse (Eagle's Heart) Belarusian Heart Orange Russian 117

I grew GRS two years ago and thought it was a fine tasting tomato with good production. This year my only heart is Nicky Crain (post picks in Photo section)...also a great tasting, meaty tomato. Want to try Kosovo next year.

WOW ! We tasted the heart/plum whatever you wanna call it (Cypriot)...
I'd say a 8.5-9.0 range ! A deep sweet tomato taste ... We both decided its def. coming back for 2008. Productive and tastey in a pot ??? We can only imagine what it will do in the ground ... There are a bunch of hearts listed above I'm gonna def. need to "sample" next season ... ~ Tom Slicer from last night:

I really like Kosovo and Wes, but both are great but I think Wes is better. These are the only 2 hearts I have grown. As Carolyn noted, Prue is more of a plum shaped tomato tho I've had some that could be thought of as a blunt tip heart as Prue has variable fruits. I've eaten several large Kosovo and 2 Wes so far.

I like Orange Strawberry as well, and grew it three or four years in a row. I will grow it again someday when I am done sampling new varieties. I liked the dense, smooth, juicy texture and the big size and beautiful color, though it may not have the complexity of flavor of some others.

Found these old pictures from 2005. Don't seem to have one of Orange Strawberry by itself uncut, but only as a group shot.

Just curious about what is a heart and what is a plum. Kosovo looks like a heart as does Anna Russian, but notice that one of the Anna's is double. Yasha seems narrower and has a nipple on the bottom and Andine Corune looks like a pepper. Would they all be classified as hearts?
From left to right it is Andine, Anna, Kosvo and Yasha. Alex
