Another vote for the Canon Powershot S3 1S - actually, the S5 is the current version.

Read all about digital cameras here -

The reviews are superb.

For high price cameras, you need to know how to download firmware updates and --------and --------and ---- ---

No! don't worry, most cameras are auto-focus, auto this, auto that --- They all have this point-&-shoot button.

The only thing you have to learn is to remove the lens cap before you snap, I mean clip!

Have you got a dollar figure that can be spent?

How do you feel about smaller vs. larger cameras?

Do you expect to take most pictures with the automatic settings? Or do you like to tinker with manual settings?

If the answer is $150-200, small/medium, and auto, then a Canon A-series camera is as good as any. It doesn't have to be difficult to make a decision. Maybe we should have asked for these criteria from post #2 and then only if you are interested in all the options, we start posting technical documents.

Default camera

I used a HP C 500 2 Megapixels to take Photos for badges and when it died as some one dropped it went with a HP R725 for badges and for other in-plant photo's. 6.2 megapixels. We use Photoshop 6.0 for the enhancement. My camera is an HP M 425 with 5 megapixel which is the least that I would advise. The company cameras have rechargeable batteries in them but mine I buy regular AA batteries from Costco. I have a charger and lithum ones but I find that I am better off having the regular one as it seems as if every time I want to shoot I need to put new batteries in and regular batteries are or seem to be available about every where in stores. You can buy the SB cards at overstock.com cheaply and I have found that I am better off changing the chips out rather than having the 1 or 2 gig one so if you loose one you are not missing a huge # of photo's. I have yet to completely fill a 512 mb chip. I usually down load them before they are filled.

What did you end up getting? My DH got me the Canon S5, told me he paid a bit under $300. Buy.com has SD cards REALLY CHEAP! 2GB around, $14. I have to get over there to buy a couple of them.
