Marsha suggested that I sent my GGWT seeds to the swap as she is growing it out herself. So if you want Gary, I will send you seeds - at least 100 I think. But I don't want any seeds in return.
Let me know!
Thanks Sharon

For anyone who hasn't sent yet....Tormato said not to use any tape or paper clips because packages can get torn in transit or when unpacking. Baggies are ok.

The only thing I did a little differently with the bubble mailer was I put all the pepper seed baggies in a zipock bag. - Mostly because that bag was what I put them in as I got them ready anyway. I have no idea if that'll help Tormato or not?

I personally love it when I get packets with all that info on them, makes it easier to put everything into my spreadsheet. Gary doesn't require it though because it is kinda hard.

BUT Do Not ever use paperclips or staples or tape of any kind on the packets. Apparently they rip the packets open or something. I put 2 varieties in a sandwich bag to keep things a bit more sorted for Gary.

I have seeds for Crown Peas aka "salmon flowered”, an edible very rare variety but the seeds are a few years old. There might be a small chance of crossing since I didn't have the garden space for a large distance between varieties, but any off types should be easy to spot as these are a different plant type than typical peas. Is anyone interested in these? As they are rare and hard to come by, I would like to share with other seed savers to help preserve this variety. The pods are small and the few peas sweet, beautiful flowers, though not very productive compared to modern varieties which is probably why they were nearly extinct. If some of you are interested in helping to get this variety going again, let me know and I will send some in to the swap for you.

Many of the older varieties pf peas are pretty neat, many tasty too! Are your peas wrinkled or smooth when dry? Pole or bush type?

Peas are always good, <smile>

Seem to recall that not many people sent peas in last year so I think Gary was hoping more peas would come in this year. Feel free to send in all the peas you want.

My luck with peas is usually bad or worse so I'm not the one to try to preserve them, but others may have more success. On the other hand, I don't mind getting common varieties of peas; if the crop fails (again), at least it was nothing rare.

There were some questions about how much information to put on labels. If you want to add a lot, that's great, but if it cramps your hand so you can't send as much in, makes sense to keep it simple. People can do their own searches online. For the few items that don't have any online information, I posted the information that I have on the Spoiler Alert thread.

I think Gary is usually inclined to start a thread just for questions that people have about varieties they got that don't have an "online presence". If you are sending in some unusual stuff, might help if you keep an eye on that thread in case people ask questions about them.

Gary mentioned that putting a rubber band around packets is OK, I think. I did that with my groups of 10 - tight enough to be kind of snug but not so tight you have to fight to get them back off.

I did send in 10 packs of peas. But since this isn't the spoiler thread - I won't say what type.

http://veggies-only.blogspot.com/201...-peas.html?m=1

A little more info on the peas. They grow between 3-4 feet high with a thick stem and with most of the leaves and all the flowers growing at the very top, (the "crown" ) sort of like a bouquet. The pods have 3-6 peas each and turn pinkish colored as they dry. The peas are good as a shelling pea, though as I said not as productive as modern varieties. If memory serves the seeds are smooth, I will have to dig them out of the seedbox to make sure.
Maybe this should have been in the spoiler thread, but I didn't know if anyone would want this type and didn't want to waste the seeds if it's not what is wanted

So if next season someone has a question about a tomato plant from the seeds we sent in,they will know who to contact about it.
Thanks
Susan

The only "required" information is the name of the variety and the year collected. That's all I include. My favorite part of the swap is researching the varieties I receive that I'm not familiar with, so I'm perfectly happy with just the name!

Gary usually starts a MMMM Question thread after packets have gone out and that's where we can post any questions about seeds we receive.

Gardenmermaid - I would love to try your peas. We have a cool, short season that peas love, and we have no real disease issues so they tend to do very well. I will put Crown peas on my 'request' list for Gary. Thank you for sharing and wanting to preserve these.
