I actually don't have any milkweed, but my neighborhood is a web of milkweed growing, caterpillar feeding gardeners. And our little neighborhood park has a large stand of milkweed. The caterpillar experts here say not to buy milkweed from the big box stores because it is treated with insecticide. But there is a family-owned Nursery around here that sells milkweed which is safe.

milkweed
I have plenty of fresh Tropical milkweed and Balloon Plant milkweed if you ever need seeds. They germinate in less than a week if the seeds are fresh.

That’s not your ballon milkweed Picture, right? I know the seeds I sent you didn’t have steroids in them.

Google Balloon Milkweed and see what some of the other names for this plant are. Bishop's B@lls, for example.

Yes, Roper, they are the seeds you sent me...really took off and grew very tall. We haven't had any rain in over a month but been watering all my plants via water hose which I hate. Prefer fresh rain water that I collect in buckets. The seeds only took 3 days to germinate. They germinate very well when u can get fresh seeds.

Gulf Fritillary on gomphrena
I chased this one around and he finally was still for a while. The gomphrena takes heat, sun, and drought pretty well.

I’ve seen only a few Gulf Fritillaries so far this year; last year we had tons.
No Zebra Longwings either yet. Lots of Monarchs, and cats are devouring the milkweed. I’ll have to make sure they have enough. |

Milkweed
Today I jumped on the milkweed bandwagon and bought 10 small pots. Before I even got them into the ground a monarch showed up.

Lovely!
It’s incredible how butterflies can sniff out their hosts from many yards away. |

Dragonfly
This was in the pollinator plant area. We have a tiny human-made pond so there are lots of these. Dragonflies are considered to be pollinators (everybody probably already knew that).
