I looked on line and saw one new for over $100.

It was reprinted once. withou telling me and I wish they had done so so I could have corrected and updated some info.

But no, no second edition from me, I'm retired and no where's near where a photographer could be let alone I've had to use a walker since Dec of 2004 when I fell and severed all four quads in my right leg. A few varieties are still grown here at home, someone else raises the plants for me and Freda who does all my cleaning and gardening for me will take care of them.

So that's that.

I feel very blessed, I found a used copy on EBay for 19.99 + 5 bucks for shipping.

I consider myself a very frugal person and sometimes it pays off!

Waiting for it to arrive to plan out next year.

Carolyn's book is the best - it is my tomato bible. I have a ratty old copy that I write in, highlight, and the binding is broken.

Then I have the new one, in the attic, purchased about three years ago, that is never used!

I've learned a lot from it, and I picked out a few tomatoes this year that I probably would not have tried otherwise based on some of the information.

I just bought a good condition used one. There are a just a couple small dings in the edge of the cover and they did a poor job trying to remove the original price sticker (I'll clean it off with 'goo gone'). I think I have purchased books new at Barnes and Noble in similar condition. I got a little lucky.

I got it for 32 dollars on Amazon (Amazon will connect you with 3rd party re-sellers for used books) plus 4 bucks shipping. I just checked and It looks like the going rate is usually 35 dollars for a used (probably a little more used than the one i got) one.

It is my first year growing tomatoes and I have 8 varieties (7 open pollinated). The only one in the book is Opalka. I will probably try a few others from the book next year, but there are just so many... and so many new ones since 1999. And I have fairly limited space.

Anyhow, its a very nicely put together book and I am glad i bought it.

I love my book also. There are some new ones to try I have Berkley tie dye growing and very anxious to try it, some green ones may turn In about 2 weeks.

In Carolyn's book Big Rainbow is show as a bi color and does anyone know how it compares to an Old German which is a bi color I bought at a local nursery a few years ago. It looks a lot like Big Rainbow.

The Old German was the sweetest striped tomato and it was my mothers favorite tasting tomato and I failed to save the seed.
