Fullerton Arboretum, Orange County, is having a tomato tasting!
Tomato Tasting & Sizzlin’ Summer Salsa Contest August 3rd, 2013, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m "We ASK people who have purchased tomatoes (hopefully at the tomato sale) to bring some of their homegrown tomatoes (labeled by variety) in to be sliced for tasting. That way, people can sample varieties they may not have grown & decide to purchase them at the next sale. It also provides people the opportunity to taste & see the differences of each variety. We ask people to vote for their favorite tomatoes in each category, Cherry, Paste & Slicing & the winning tomato varieties will be posted on the website the following week." |

I should get a decent harvest this year, I've got a bunch of marble sized Romo's and a ton of blooms right now. Here is a pic of my raised beds a few weeks ago, before the hot weather. The heat really sent the plants into a high growth mode this past week, they are all well over the top of the cages now...

Please Change the Thread to Southern California Thread.
We should include LA County, San Gabriel and the Valley! Everyone should bring friends to the thread! |

Anyone can post in the thread, vodreaux. Very nice garden boxes, Baja Traveler! We are in the midst of a big move so I could not put in a big garden. I have 8 tomato plants, a couple of peppers, swiss chard holdover and a squash. Hoping to get some ripe tomatoes before we go.
