And my sob story is that after I loaded the info on most of my tomatoes and peppers of the last two years, and all of my trade info, the blanketty-blank Windows system boot crashed/was corrupted and I had to bring my PC in for a wipe and system reload since I got it used with key but no disks. I think the docs and pics are saved, so hopefully the database info is still there, but all the non WinXP programs I've collected are gone. I don't know when I'll get time to find and load everything again. Very disheartening. (Asked the techs to put a dual boot into Ubuntu as long as they were messing about with it anyway, this is last money I'm spending on Windows on that machine.)
The good news, is that at least now I know I can load Ted's latest and greatest versions without any glitches. And I got a good reminder on backing up data!

Dee..!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry to hear that. Backup is always good. I have all my most important stuff backed up onto CD's. Backing up my programs is really easier than they may appear at first.
After it's installed, you can actually back up any of the programs onto one 3 1/2" diskette. The key file to make copies of are the ones with an extension of ".MDB" (i.e. Myseeds.MDB, Pepperbox.MDB, Address1.MDB, etc.) After a crash, simply download and reinstall the original program and then take the ".MDB" file you saved and copy it into the directory and OVERWRITE the one that came with the installation. Let me know if there's anything I can help with Ted

Simply make a copy of the database file and copy in over to the PC and overwrite the file in the PC. The Database File has a filename with ".MDB" as the last characters.
Example - If you are doing Tomatoes, the filename will be be "MYSEEDS.MDB". If you are doing addresses and trades, the filename will be "ADDRESS1.MDB". You can transfer the file in a number of ways. The obvious ways are to use a floppy or a cd. Another way is to attach the ".MDB" file to an Email and send it to yourself - then open it on the other computer. Let me know if I can do anything else. I don't do much with my computers, but get on the internet. I'm
pretty much a computer dummy. I tried to load your software on my Mac, didn't work. Now I'm trying on my HP(vista). It said it successfully loaded seedbox. All I see is a list of files that I don't understand. Any suggestions? |

Click on "START" and then programs. You should see the Mailbox Icon and just click on that to start.
If you're using "Windows Explorer", then look at the list of files for one with the mailbox Icon. Double click on that to start the program. The program was installed in a new directory on your "C:\" drive. Ted

Oh my goodness. I was at work tonight thinking I desperately needed a way of keeping track of my tomatoes, and more especially, whom I got them from, and those who asked to let them know how they do.... then I come home and find this!!! This is wonderful! Thanks so very much Ted. I have some seeds on the way and I'll be sure to be using Seedbox as soon as they get here. I downloaded it, and it works wonderfully!! Thanks again.!!

Roper, which program are you having the problem with. Please describe the conditions under which you get the error message. Tell me what you did and when you did it that led to the error.
Ted

Back up your data, people!!! Chances are good that you will have a computer crash at a time when you least expect it. I had put it off, got complacent and had no warning my computer was planning to not boot the next day.
The repair techs recovered all the docs and jpgs I had in My Documents, and the ones I told them were in files on my Desktop. But I forgot that the Seed and Pepperbox database files were in with their own program directory, so they were not recovered and I have to input everything from scratch. I do have the printouts of the last Master Seed listings, but I still will have to do it all by hand. Pooh! Ted, don't know if you have tweaked the programs further, or if my current incarnation of WinXP is smarter, but I had no error messages to ignore this time when installing each program. Also noticed an extra little printer menu comes up on the combo seed/trading program. Everything is working great, just have to find the time to input the data again. Won't be anytime soon I'm afraid. I've certainly appreciated all your personal help the last few weeks, you're a great guy!

Dee, it is probably due to not having loaded too many other programs that might use the drivers and Active-X modules and DLL files, and that would have a more recent date on them.
Anyhow, I'm glad you find the program working well this time. And, it's nice to know that some folks think well of me. Ted

I entered a tomato variety and it seems to have worked
this time. I'm not getting that error msg. I think I will play around with this for awhile and download the pepper one at a latter date. Now I can get organized..Thanks Ted |
