Denise,

I think the shirts will have to wait another year.....
I know my schedule (with new job, young kids, and school) is too busy to look into this.
I suspect Craig's work schedule has got him swamped as
well.

Now if someone wanted to volutneer to take the ball and
run with.......

Default tomatopalooza t-shirts

Well, I walked right into that one didn't I?!!! I'll do a little research and see what I can come up with. I would think that we should have the logo that is Lee's avatar on the shirts, and they should be tomato-plant green to hide the stains from working in the tomato patch. Feedback would be very helpful!

Those are great ideas for a t-shirt! I love Lee's avatar, and a tomato-green background would be perfect! If there is anything I can do to help, just give me a yell!

Just a thought here.....

Due to the short timeframe, perhaps we can all make our own shirts for the get together, if we want em.

Maybe use Lee's avatar and create an iron on transfer and place it on your favorite tomato growing shirt.

Dont forget to add the year to it somehow.

All the reservations are made and the anticipation is building. The LOML and I should arrive in Raleigh at about 12 noon on the 29th. We’ll kill some time somehow before we head over to Umstead Park.

Maybe we’ll take a short hike through the woods to work off the late breakfast we will have had. (Aren’t B&B’s great?) Need to have room for many, many tomatoes. Not to mention some of the other goodies people will bring.

Not sure what varieties I’ll have to bring this year. Seems to me everything is running behind. But my wife says I say that every year and not to worry. So I’ll see what’s ripe when it’s time to leave. As it gets closer I’ll post a list of the great SW Ohio varieties I’ll be bringing. Maybe I’ll check in with Earl and see if he wants me to bring any of his harvest with me.

See ya all soon.

Only 2 weeks now!

So, who's coming and what varieties are ripening up for
you?

We are, Tony/Mary Beth from Orlando !

As for matos I have some dehydrated BrandyBoys and Goose Creeks for sure and I am afraid to check what I may have around here to bring which would be considered fresh. We havent had a living plant out in the garden for some time now thanks to the heat.

We are looking forward to it !

This won't be Pepperpalooza, by any means...but...

for those intrepid souls who enjoy eating very hot objects, I will likely bring a selection of the many hot peppers I am growing this year at various ripeness levels - any input on flavor or heat would be welcome, or people can take some seeds with them for next year.

Moved from the wrong place....

What a great day - but hot (mid 90s, very humid, not a drop of rain, or even any clouds)! My wife Sue (slicer extraordinaire!) and I am exhausted, but reenergized with a few Kingfisher beer and a few curries at a local Indian restaurant....We have loads of nice looking fruit we brought home, some of which will accompany me to a cooking school demo I am doing tomorrow, the others will end up in quart jars for consumption over the winter. Kudos to Lee for organizing the event, purchasing those things we couldn't do without (plates, variety tags, and water!). Martha brought some remarkable Lime Green Salad and Sungold sorbets! But it was mostly about the wonderful people who came (around 100 - with Tony and family from Orlando and Jerry and wife from Ohio) as the most intrepid travelers...and over 200 types of tomatoes! Lee will be posting lots of pictures....I couldn't even begin to tell you what I tasted...or where the 3 hours went. What I do remember is that Green Giant was again superb, as was Earl's Faux.

wish you all could have been there....we need to do something really special for #5 next year!

Post from Jersey John, relolcated by me (I started the wrong thread!)

Craig,
glad all went well and am looking forward to the
pics and the feedback from others.

Made a pasta sauce today from my abundance
of BW OTVs. OTV has been my performance
champ so far for slicers and it made a nice
marinara dish....JJ61

Lee,
Thanks for all your efforts in putting together Tomatopalooza. The family had a great time.

Craig, the peppers were fantastic. My uncle and I really enjoyed tasting them.

To all that attended, you're the friendliest of people.

My take was seed for Grandfather Ashlock, my favorite tomato of the day.

Martha, the sorbet was incredible. I wish it would have keep in a baggy.

Tim

Wow! What a turn out. Our tomato family is truely
growing. Can tell how hot it was by the flushed
cheeks on everyone.

I have one massive green fruit growing on my
only Grand Father Ashlock. Hoping for more sets
as I'm wishing to taste as well as save seeds. Glad
you liked GFA Tim since I've been looking forward
to that one also....JJ61
