Chucker,
Looking good!!! As we are never done in this hobby, I am now experimenting with various combinations of Potting Mixes, Perlite, Turface to come up with a blend that will be optimal for SWC applications. The Miracle-Gro Potting Mix on its own gets too wet in both my EarthBox as well as the EarthTainers. Stay tuned. A 4:1:1 blend of Potting Mix, Perlite, and Turface on the left, and a 3:1:1 blend on the right: Ray |

Looking forward to you mix results Ray - and will likely try the winner in next years boxes. I've been pretty happy with the Miracle Grow so far, although I have nothing to compare it with.
I know some have said that too much moisture will water down the flavor of the tomatoes, but so far mine have been as flavorful as the ones I remember from my childhood. My boxes are uncovered, so that my reduce my moisture levels a bit. |

Chucker,
Yes, definitely having the plastic mulch off will keep the plants drier on the surface, but I want to find a grow media that will reduce the wicking properties to a "moist" level throughout the container. So far, the potting mix cut with Cactus Mix and Perlite look most promising. Ray |
