Badtxmofo, "Muff", Yes, you are crazy! So are most of us here. Most of my family thinks my gardening is quite obsessive. I find peace in my nutty world, and wouldn't trade the experience or the nutty gardening friends I"ve met for anything!!!

I run out to the garden/containers at least three or four times a day. It's nice to have a little time all to myself. I also carry my old Sonicare toothbrush with me and buzz every blossom I can find. I contemplate taking out a young pecan tree that is blocking almost all of the afternoon sun that my main garden area gets. I actually feel bad that I'm thinking about that one. Tomatoes, pecan tree, tomatoes, pecan tree. I'm conflicted! I think it's more sad that I visit my in-laws tomato garden. They have 6 Celebrities and 2 Lemon Boys. I go and look at them every time we visit. I've got around 40 plants in the ground and containers. I know they think I'm nuts.

LOL! DH knows better than to give his opinion about whether I can or can't dig something up. Although sometimes he still lapses like the other day: I worked for 2 or 3 hours trying to get a hosta up that I knew was too cramped where it was (right under my Jap Maple and had the Maple's roots growing thru it, etc.) so I had to ask DH to help me toward the end. And he asked if I should be digging so close to the hosta, wouldn't I hurt it, etc. So I just looked at him. Dude - don't you know that I know what I'm doing by now? Yep - oh kazay! Back to it and get that huge root ball outta there!

Yeah my front yard is unique as it was just a giant sand box. So this year i brought some soil in and built some raised beds. The Neighbors and tourists pull this one surprised:then it turns to . Nothing better than a neutral space turned functional. You could always dig up sections where raised beds go and keep the Augustine in between You would have to keep up on the weeding but it would look very nice Quote:

I work based on a criteria that allows for a work/life balance I know not everyone is able to, but in this country people often feel a "need" when it might only be a "want". |

Or people with jobs who just really neglect housework, the gym, etc. I left my 12-hrs-a-day, 6-days-a-week, 45-min-commute-each-way job last year. I ended up taking a job with signficantly less money for a 40-hr job close to home so I can do the things I love like gardening! Screw the rat race, man. It just ain't worth it! Now - TOMATOES - they are worth it!

Ah ha ha ha haaaa!!! Was right in your very boat! For real! Not only did my experience and yearly income scare potential employers off (or so I thought) but I was also very reluctant to take that kind of cut. I felt guilty about it. Well, let me tell you - it's out there. And I had worked my tail off to get where I was level-wise and to make the kind of dough I was making. But I was M-I-S-E-R-A-B-L-E. I do not regret one little bit making this choice. My job is a cake walk and I actually have a life! Wishing you all the best!
