Thanks for the info on EPB.

Ok- one of the things that knocks many cherry tomatoes out of the running for me, aside from the fact that they don't measure up to the taste that I love in Sungold, is that they take so much longer to ripen- and that was my experience with Black Cherry. I mean, if they don't ripen until after I have plenty of bigger tomatoes, why do I need them? Not everyone feels that way, though- about Sungold or about cherries in general.

Here's tomato (non-cherry) #1. It's a pot #41 plant, i.e. a mystery as are 75% of my plants thanks to a computer encryption mishap. If anyone happens to know what it might be -- yeah long shot without pics of the mother plant I know.

Edit: I went ahead and added a couple pics of the foliage? Maybe Kosovo? Or Stupice? Or Prue? They tend to be early I believe.

I think it's a long shot even with pics of the mother plant. Do you have a list of the possibilities?

Hi Kath,

I posted some pics of the foliage above. Some of the possibilities include:
- Prue
- Wes
- Olpalka
- Rinaldo
- Dagestankiy
- Kosovo
- Stupice
- Goose Creek

???

I haven't grown all of those and I know the shapes of some can vary but between the fruit shape and plant pics and using my very limited experience of 1-2 plants one time and iffy memory, I'd say "not likely" to be Prue, Wes, Opalka, Rinaldo, Dagestansky, Kosovo or Goose Creek.

Hope your post catches the attention of someone with more experience and better news. Maybe you should try a new thread.

Lime Green Salad was the first to set and ripen for me. Great little plant and good taste.

First fruit set was Ititarod Red followed closely by Super Sweet 100. A few days later Wes and Better Boy set fruit.

Thanks Kath. You're right. Maybe I'll start a thread dedicated to identifying my armada (or at least hope and expect to be) of mystery tomatoes/plants. I'll call it: "Step right up and play, Name that Mystery tomato."

Sungold!

Jaunne Flamme and Danko and Moravsky Div are teasing with full size maters but no color breaks yet.

Kath, it's true that the word purple meant pink from the late 1800's up to maybe the early 20's but I doubt that Eva Purple Ball was named back then, probably Joe Bratka named it since it's one of his family heirlooms, actually one of a few since he bred many others and passed them off as heirlooms.

Naysen, I have Kosovo and that doesn't really look like my plant, which is "wispier" if that is a word

Vorlon is my first fruit set, I have several small fruits that are probably about 3-4 oz right now and growing beautifully

My Van Wert Ohio, Nepal and Brandywine from Croatia were the first ones to set fruit.
All of these are setting lots of tomatoes so hopefully my efforts to bag some blooms won't be in vain.
