Thanks for answering my question, Carolyn, about the older seeds. Your shoe boxes should go into the Svalbard Global Seed Vault for preservation!

Admittedly the seeds are inside and are stored just at ambient temps and humidity all year long but seed viability has held up pretty good except for the hearts which several of us have found don't retain viability as well as non-hearts. Scott, it can be so very hot and humid in Atlanta, I was there once to interview with CDC, wouldn't you welcome the chance to pack up my seeds and fly off to Svalbard yourself? Carolyn

Sure would, except I am in Erbil right now, where the weather is a gorgeous 60 degrees.

Thank you for the seeds and all your advice Carolyn! The letter arrived Friday (no mail delivery on Saturdays), but the seeds won't be sown for a month or so (last part of May is considered safe for planting tomatoes outside).
