We have a 38 acre piece of property in Kerrville, Tx w/ a seven acre spring fed lake on it. This is my fishing hole. I have caught may 10 pounders out of it. The picture shows the lake in 2011, and a picture taken last month. My inlaws live there, and for 30 years the lake has managed to stay at capacity due to the springs always running. I like to fish w/ an inner tube w/ a saddle so I can sit and fish using special flippers on my ankles. Nothing more relaxing....I could catch 50 fish(catch and release) in just a few hours. There is one spot on the lake where when I get hot, and need a re-fresher I paddle to a spot where cold spring water shoots up from the bottom....aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!...No more though. Kerrville has missed most of the past rain showers in the last few years. Finally this last rain event has dumped maybe 4" of rain. The lake has come up some but still 12 feet down....

One of the catfish punctured his tube out in the middle of Lake Buchanan and he almost drowned. The thing had suspenders and waders on it so when it started filling up with water it was like an anchor. Worth |

Hornstrider, that is a beautiful lake when full. I love to fish lazily while enjoying nature.
I was watching AccuWeather earlier. They're saying a large amount of rain should form tonight in the El Paso - Marfa - Lubbock area. Maybe they'll get some in Kerrville if it moves that far east. |

We had another 2" of rain this morning. The tomatoes and the grass are happy! Sick of being in the house...getting cabin fever!

Hornstrider that is so sad! All those big bass gone. Hoping for more rain in Central Texas! I have to wonder what happened to your spring though. I'm sure there is some aquifer level drop due to drought but, could also be some folks out that way have put in more wells. That sux!

At my brothers old place there was a creek that ran by it. Every year the Black Bass would swim up the creek and get trapped in holes of water. You could go to these holes at the right time and catch a ton of fish. It it was either me or the critters that ate them. As the summer wore on the holes would dry up and the bass and other fish would die or get eaten. Worth |
