Thanks for the links Carolyn. In the Google search link I found a picture of an Omar’s Lebanese plant from July of 2005 that was a match of the leaves and basic plant stucture. http://photos1.blogger.com/img/130/1...s_lebanese.jpg
Thanks all! Dutch

Dutch- yep, the leaves of the "normal" oblate OL are the same as this heart modification, although I noticed the heart's leaves were a bit bigger (see my picture in the thread). The fruits were the same color as OL, and the taste was also identical to me. This is why I'm leaning toward a spontaneous mutation or perhaps a bee cross.

Rain is forecast for tomorrow evening. I will pick the two that are flushing and send them to Carolyn before the rain starts and the Post Office closes.

More than that is the fact that when I realized I had way too many new varieties for seed production this summer that couldn't be done by my normal 4 seed producers of many years, I put up a request asking for volunteers here at Tville and Dutch was one of very first to volunteer. Carolyn

Marsha also received about 100 seeds from me, as I had offered them in both the Xanadu and TV forums last year. She will offer some to grow out in the spring IF and ONLY IF Dutch and Carolyn deem the tomato to be worth growing.

You haven't seen me at Xanadu in a very long time, and there are reasons for that as well. I know you offered them to me in a PM here at Tville,I could go back and check, but I also remember that I didn't get back to you right away and whether that was a medical related issue I don't remember.Normally I answer PM's ASAP. Carolyn, noting again that Dutch will have lots of seeds and they will be offered in Shawn and my seed offer this Fall.Hopefully I'll get my act together, meaning getting my tax returns in since I have a 6 mo extension to meet and right now I haven't the faintest idea where all that stuff is, and other priorities as to getting my revised call list for my medi-alert/911 changed, and thinking about last week when my local MD was here for a home visit and we didn't see eye to eye on what the priorities should be...

Carolyn, I think you knew I was just going to send you a couple to taste. Your quick witted humor didn't fool me. Carolyn and Patti thanks for the kind words and in my opinion, you are both far too kind to me. Dutch P.S. The tops of the fruits are showing signs of faint concentric cracking.

The concentric cracking on the top of these heart shaped fruit, appear to be the same as pictured on page 179 of the book titled “100 Heirloom Tomatoes for the American Garden” written by Carolyn Male. Also as the plants have grown, the foliage on the top portion of the plants has thinned and is as described on page 178. Thank you again Carolyn!

Dutch,
How is it that you don't have one weed? Have you made some deal with the dark master? Can I have his cell #? |
