Ella where do you find this chart for soil temp? For those of us without a soil temp chart, what is the key, to make sure the next 10 days does not dip below 50 before planting out? My tomato seedlings are getting BIG!

I am interested in knowing also, Ella. We had a beautiful weekend with high in the eighties, but, I am holding off planting my tomatoes out in the garden because our weather changes drastically from day to day. I did plant about six tomatoes out in my unheated GH over the weekend. I can cover with buckets if needed in case the temperatures drop. Because the weather was nice, I came close to planting a few tomatoes in the garden, but I held off that temptation.

I love your pictures Ella. My peonies are not poking their heads up yet. Did you plant those tomatoes yet?

I go to Rutgers website:

Most states have colleges that do research and post it on their agricultural website.
I googled soil temperature map for NJ and was lucky to find it.
For tomatoes it should be between 50 and 60 degrees.

Wowza! I didn't get enough time this year to start celery in time from what I was reading. When do you start celery?

Hope you have good luck with your plants this year! Mine aren't large enough to go out yet-we may be a bit cooler than you also. We're located on the corner where PA, DE and MD meet. I notice trees along our driveway have leafed out far earlier than ever before! Thank you for so many great varieties! Can't wait to
see your photos!

luigiwu, this is my first year growing it. I started it mid March. Seeds are so small. Got leggy and needed to be hardened.

Dear Darlene, thank YOU. You shared seeds of so many new once with me. I will definitely post their pictures and try to collect seeds. I know how to ferment them but have not mastered protecting them from cross pollination.

So far tomatoes are fine. Peppers did not change much. We are expecting few days without rain and lower humidity next week. Lets hope your plants will improve.
What do you mean:"they dont look good"?

Ella-thank you for the parsley seed. I'll be planting it tomorrow outside. Will start some in the summer for a fall planting,too.

UGH, just finished planting out all my plants today and BAM, its the coldest its been in a while, going down below 50s.. sigh
